Yes rcp gotcha. I dont know years and stuff stuff came in.
I bought a parts jeep with 27 spline 8.25 broke a shaft then pulled 29 spline shafts and carrier at the ju k yard.
So far been unable to break the 29 spline with all 4 tires locked.
I highly recommend disc brakes to hold tire on when 8.25 axle does brake.
I drove dang near 80 miles with a snapped 27spline shaft.
No i dont feel theres much if any increase in braking performance going to disc tear
