New & A Question

Hello,
I have been watching this board for quite some time, picked up a lot of useful information so far but I do have a quick question. First I live in Athens, TN and have a 94 white 2 door XJ. I am in the process of installing a 4 1/2" lift that I have bought a piece at a time, as funds would allow.

I have the back complete but am having trouble with the front. I have the new springs on, the LC's on but the axle is tilted forward and the UC's will not reconnect so I am stuck.

I know this is probably a stupid question for some but any help would be much appreciated. I am trying to use my stock control arms but I dont know if that possible. The only thing I can see is either make a set of adjustable UC are purchase a set.

I hope I have given enough information for a possible answer but if will be happy to provide further information if someone needs it. Once again thanks in advance for any help someone can give.

You'all have a great board by the way.

Whos Kit? May need the matching UCA's or one set adjustable to set proper pinion angle. Uppers if lowers are fixed. As far as connecting, use a rachet strap to roll the axle.

I tried the ratchet strap but it wouldnt roll the axel back far enough. The only feasble option I see is a set of adjustable UC's to solve my problem unless someone has a better suggestion. I am not using any ones kit, I picked up the peieces for he lift as I could afford them so like I said its just pieced together. The vendors are Rustys and Rough Country.

Thanks for the reply

I think the easiest way would be to remove the springs, then install the uppers. After everything else is in place use spring compressors to replace the coil.

I have tried this both ways, installing uppers first and then lowers. I found that installing the lowers first was the best way. I have one side complete, meaning that I have the uppers & lowers connected on the drivers side. I have only the passenger side left to do. I have had to use a come along though in order to get the drivers side to lined up. I will probably finish the passenger side tomorrow. I had to attach the come along to the UC mount and then attach via a chain to the rear axel in order to rotate the axel enough.

I do appreciate the welcomes and words of wisdom that I got from folks on here. I will get it but I didnt think it would be that much trouble to install a simple 4 1/2" lift./ Alwasys something new to pick up though I guess which looks to be the start of a long road of learning things about this Jeep.

Just wanted to post an update on where this process was at.
