Well we have decided to kind of redo the lifts we have on our jeeps and make them a little bit better for both on and off road. We need your opinions on what we should do to add to our current lifts without spending thousands of dollars. I am planning on putting hd offroads shackle relocation brackets on both of them. They both have got cut fenders and would like to have some where around 4.5" to 5.5" lift on them to run 33's or 35's comfortably with the proper bump stops. Here is what we have now,

Trixie03's jeep, 2000 xj with 3" rough country kit and 31" BFG at's

My jeep, 99 xj with 3.5" Rusty's kit with shackles and 2" spacers and 33" Bighorns

We have already got adjustable track bars for both of them as well. What would be some of the opinions on what we should do to them?

Thanks,
Ben

I'm running 33's on 3" of lift. I like the stability of it. I'd say turn Trixie's into a good riding expo style rig and turn yours into a beast.

im on/around 4.5" of lift and 33s, could easily fit 35s. but, im not ready for 35s. if you dont want to regear... i say add a locker (or 2). youll be amazed at how many more places you can go. then spend a little bit of money TUNING your suspension, and buying quality parts, instead of just making it taller.

gears and chromos all the way around are my minimum requirement for 35s on my rig.

until then, i still think i can get more out of my suspension without adding lift:

I'm another guy with a 3" lift and 33" tire setup. I've been super happy running this way. The stability in off camber situations is really good and with my bump stops setup the way they are, I can really stuff the tires without any contact. I don't think I've ever said I wish I could go higher. I wish I had a front locker, deeper gearing, better steering setup, and so on.

If you don't already have underbelly armor, traction aid(s), lca skids, diff armor, I'd spend my money there vs going higher.

Guess that's what I need to clarify what im asking. What parts should I put on the rigs suspension to make them perform better. Both of them will get wheeled just want the suspension to perform better

I am running narrow 35's with 3" of lift. Stability is awsome off road. Lots of fender trimming and bumpstops. Eliminates the need for long arms, SYE, & new driveshafts. I feel once you go over 35's you will need more than a 44 and a 30 combo. $$$$$ It still flexes amazingly.

5.5/6 inch lift Front: TnT 5.5 coils, long arms, RE LA/skid kit. Rear: HO-boxes, JKS shackle OME 3.5 leaf packs, 33in tires. (d30 / 8.8) LSD in back and Spartan up front (AS of next week).

I will not touch this setup unless something breaks, I like it, I haven't had any issues I won't solve by putting the Spartan in next week.

I'm probably not the best person to answer, but I'll take a crack at it. My junk is a bit cobbled, my lift is a 3" homebrew with xj/xj bastard packs and stock shackles, 3" coils of an unknown brand, unknown fixed lowers, JK shocks up front, and 4x4 F150 shocks in the rear. It performs well for what it is and was cheap as hell to throw together. If I were to improve upon my lift, I'd go with a longer main leaf bastard pack, ditch the JK shocks for something with a little longer travel, and build a mid-arm setup. It's really hard to say what you should do for your own setup though. I'd look at what's limiting your suspension and improve on those areas.

Austin - Picked up a front locker as well after WF! Funny how that works, huh?

Keep the current lift and trim to fit the 33's.

Find any components that are keeping it from riding the way you want and replace them.

In my humble opinion there is no one all around great lift, they need to be built and tuned to the vehicle and its usage.

X a bunch!

Rev said it perfect!

Example: Front coils ride rough, replace them, front end then becomes really bounce cause the coils have good flex, so replace the shocks. Front end is good but the back end is now really stiff, get HO-boxes to adjust your shackle angle which will change ride, so on and so forth... As Rev said, its all in how you wheel/drive it and what you want it to do.

This. I run mixed & matched lift parts & they work for me & my driving style. But they may be totally wrong for you. To each his own.

My setup is OME 934 coils(V8 ZJ 2" spring gives an XJ 3") OME cs034ra packs with an extra leaf, OME long travel shocks( gonna have to change to a 0" lift shock for the rear with the new mounts) an Iron rock double shear track bar, iron man fab control arms and jks disco's. I plan to add the shackle relocation brackets I have and a .75" spacer up front to level it and eventually a Currie antirock because I like having a sway bar. It rides great, flexes great and just works.
