Hi, I'm Romulo the owner of the burgundy Wagoneer that was at Tellico on July.
It has 33" tires with d44 rear and d30 front and stock gears.
Need advice on lockers, I will install 456 gears but Im not sure what type of locker to use. Is my dd and Im planing on going to Tellico at least 3 times a year.
Should I use Tru-trac, Detroit soft lock, or Lock right?
Where to buy parts at a good price?

Ps: Thanks and Im looking forward to enjoy another ride with yall.

Out of those three, my choice would be tru-trac front, and detroit soft rear.
But lockers are really a personal choice of how much road manner you want to give up for the wheeling enhancement. I ran a spooled rear with full detroit front on my DD for a while before it got retired to the driveway for engine work..

as for a good place to get them, a few NAXJA members deal in these sort of things, so check the vendor section and see what you can find. i know Rawbrown has good deals on gears and lockers, but he is in CA.

For a 90% street - 10% trail rider, The True Trac front & rear would fit the bill very nicely, and still allow use of that 242's full-time 4WD in bad weather, (Plus be a bunch less $$$ than two Soft Lockers)

My Trail rig has a Detroit EZ front and a Spool rear, and my 90/10 rig will have a True Trac front and a True Trac or Soft Locker rear... still OK in the rare sandhills snow, but much better than open/track-lok off road.

Glad to see you here and hope to see you in Tellico again, really enjoyed Upper 2 with you and you did well for stock, I now have Detroits front and rear and a 2 low kit in the case, you XJ is too nice to turn into a beater like mine, I think you would be better with limited slips with the 242. As for price try Rawbone here on NAXJA, or PM A-mechanic and ask him where he got his stuff.

Glad to see you here Romeo! I run the lock right fornt and rear and would NOT recomend them in the 242 especially the front. I'd put some weight on what Woody sugested and maybe check with A-Mechanic...

i was also in tellico for the july run but i didnt stay at crawfords. But i saw your wagoneer when i was up there(i think). I was in a yellow cherokee on 38.5 14.50's. but anyways i work at 4wheel parts in marrietta ga. and since i like wags i would love to make you a good deal on some lokers. give me a call (770-427-9840)

Thanks,
I got 456 gears, Tru-trac for the front and a Detroit for the rear. They should be installed next week. Hoping to be at Tellico for October.
