NAXJA Hollister run, APRIL 4TH

My friend and I will be camping down at the first camping area next to the small river bed tonight. If you're early feel freee to stop by and chat and maybe a morning run

My nephew will be in the Sycamore camp as well. Look for a brown XJ and a green YJ.

Also, I have been cut off of spending money by the wife, so I have one 297 shaft and ujoint(drivers side) and one weak shaft(passenger side) and no spares. If anyone has an extra on can get an extra I will buy/trade you for it if/when I break.

Hey, yeah seems like I can't make it. My car died while I was making a turn in traffic, I don't think its safe to drive out to Hollister. Hope you guys have fun out there. Maybe next time around I can join you guys.

i'll be out there in a black XJ w/ a sun faded hood. 4.75in lift, safari rack, winch bumper and on some worn out 32 BFG MTs

I'll be there, hopefully by 9:30.

I'll be at the schoolhouse at 9.

Pm for a phone number if you want it.

Blue 2001 junk with a tire carrier.

I wish I could have made it down there today. Hopefully some of you will post some pic's so I can at least live vicariously thru NAXJA forms. :tear:

Hi guys. I just got back from Hollister about 30 mins ago. No pictures from me. I should have taken some though.

I had a good time, but I didn't really hang out with the group much. I met Ed and was going to do follow you guys for a while, but I decided to go out on my own with my dad and check out the park. Seems like you guys have a good time and I'll be sure to make it out to another meet.

I actually went over to the quarry and was playing around there. Climbing up and over the big hill in the center. A brand new 4 door Rubicon gave it a shot and went over pretty easily. He tried again and got high centered at the top. Neither of us had a strap but eventually someone came by and helped him off the top of the hill. It was kinda fun to see a $40k Jeep get stuck where my old XJ did not. His swaybars were disco'd and the axles were locked, just not enough clearance for his wheelbase. I think I would take the Rubicon anyday over my beater XJ. :looney: The only advantage I had was the clearance...I have A/S 30" tires, a cheap 3" lift, stock gears, no lockers, and I didn't disco the swaybars.

The people were very friendly and I give you major credit for bringing out the brand new Jeep! So, if you read this...

Thanks Bryan for putting this run on, and especially for giving my junk a sweet blow job :smoker:. Thanks also to the others who helped in the aftermath, had a great time in spite of carnage (minor). Good times indeed.

Thats between him and my jeep! :eyes:

But seriously my winch's positive cable to the battery grounded out and started a little fire while I was trying to get out of a little off camber situation, while my buddy in a CJ7 who was right behind me was laying on it's side. Then while putting that out I guess the catalytic converter got too close to some oil and another fire started above it. And about an hour earlier I had given 94xjstud my fire extinguisher...Murphy's Law. All is well though, and made it home without issues. I have some pics but none that show it very well, some of the other guys took a bunch so maybe they will post up. I think a broken motor mount on the passenger side allowed the cable for the winch to rub against the alternator and that caused the fire right above the rear fuel injector on the ground strap that goes to the firewall, all things considered it could have been a lot worse. We used some jumper cables to create a new ground and thats what got me home!
