A pre-registration similar to NACfest where you pay for the campsite, BBQ, and a t-shirt would work the best, and we could come up with a sweet name for the event at some point.

Since this would be an official NAC event, I'm guessing I need to motion it to the BOD for a decision on date, etc.? I have no problem heading it up if that's what's necessary.

Would it be 'official'? Or would it be like Rocktoberfest?

If it's a real NAXJA event, then you have to have an assigned Trail Master, structured groups, equipment checks, all the forms/waivers/etc. Potentially you'd be able to get some raffle prizes allocated as well, although if you wanted to get stuff from sponsorship, it'd take away from the NACfest pool as everything is allocated by chapter, not event as far as I understand it.

I don't think it'd be a good idea (at this point) to spread the raffle pool between two events. And without the benefit of a raffle, would it be worth going through all the other stuff to make it official?

(or does it have to be 'official' in order to be held at F&F? You guys and your weird wheeling politics...)

The alternative is just to set up another thing like Rocktoberfest or Rich's upcoming fishing trip, where it's just a bunch of people that get together to do something cool, and with enough members showing up it'd probably be possible to get some contribution from the chapter budget.

Thanks for the plug, Chris. I'm down for whatever, however..Carol and I would love to get up to a new place, and I'm sure we'll get there regardless, Sounds and looks like a cool spot.
I've been pleasantly surprised by the interest in the "trip" I proposed, the demand is definitely there, and it's clear the NAC has built up a solid base of people who truly enjoy hanging together.
Schedule it, and we will come.
Rich

Why not split up the raffle pool? only a small group from the northern part of the chapter are able to make the 600+ mile round trip to NAC-Fest every year. Why not give some other people a shot who have never been to a naxja event before?

Because I don't care about them, I get there just fine.

My vote is for a 3rd event since there's no way in hell i'm driving to NH to go wheeling for a weekend...

There are hotels locally, but not sure if anyone wants to do that.

I don't do tents, and don't own an RV. Can you provide more specific location info on F&F so I can google up what hotels are in the area?

there's some slightly milder stuff, for the record...but I'd say 33s and locked as a minimum there. It's an absolutely awesome place to wheel.

If this is the case, it sounds like there wouldn't be much for somebody rocking 31s and open/open like me, or anything at all for stockers. I'll admit I have a tendency to "boldly go" where the lightly modified generally fear to tread and manage some times, but this makes F&F sound like it's only Black and Red, to use Rausch Parlance. Can we better quantify this (F&F have a website)?

I'd hate to drive all the way up there and have to ride shotgun. Worse than flying in and renting a Jeep...

There are miles and miles of wheelin trails that are perfect for open/open and smaller jeeps within 5-10 minutes of F&F. A weekend wouldnt even be close to enough time to cover all of them.

I'm not sure exactly whats available for hotels/motels in the area, but try searching in Peterborough and Jaffery

What Billy said.

Rob, there's tons of class IV roads in the area with more than enough obstacles to keep you entertained for a week, let alone a weekend.

Very true. I was just talking about the F&F property itself. My rig's not streetable anymore, so I wouldn't be able to seek out/lead a Class VI run but maybe Mr. Billy would be able/willing to do so.

just checked and it google says it should take me 4.5hrs to get there. its a hike. but if Its as good as you guys say it is Im still totally down. it would be nice to see some new stuff.

It's worth every minute of the drive.

That's good to hear. Any special permits/etc. for Class IV, or is street-legal and insured for my home state sufficient?

nothing special required for class VI roads...they're simply unmaintained roads

I don't want this idea to get left for dead.

I'll get more information (hopefully this week or next) on finalizing a date, cost, hotels in the area, catering, etc.

As of now, I'm looking at making it a third event in early-mid August.
