MY WAY OF HELPING A FRIEND.

It'll look cool (better than all the lowered "ricers" around Manchester) and he can do some light offroading, tons of of place to go up here. My Xj is lifted about 12"....on jackstands...lol, gotta get those floor pans in soon, miss my lil rust bucket.

I think I came across the wrong way on that. I meant spent more money than necessary to get him a reliable vehicle He's already spending a lot of money on it and going way beyond the call of duty.

It is an 89 after all, those springs have to be a bit tired by now, if he's putting in a full add a leaf it should give the back springs a few more years though I'd probably have hit a boneyard and picked up a set from 98,99,00, front and back and used them. Then there is the issue of getting that front hanger bolt out, that could be a real major PIA on an 89... I just hope the bb does not come with a rear shackle extension, on springs that old it would really accerelerate the wear on those leaves..

ok update, rockers are just about done, 2x4 steel square tube, headliner is in, rear shock holes drilled out and i am putting in the new rear shocks, scored a set of almost perfect 31x10 on rock crawler wheels(free), we will be adding spacers to teh front and a small block to teh full lenght aal in the rear to get about 3" lift.

going back to work on it now

You guys are to good to be true.....I WANT friends like you.. I have a couple floor pans that need to installed, Manchester is not that far....lol
I hope your friend appreciates alll the work you have been doing, its really nice of ya.

well, here was today, I changed out one of the vent windows for a fixed window b/c it broke out. i will change the other in a few days, I got them free from a buddy with a laredo.

I also fixed the drivers seat coution, and the drivers power window, i changed teh headliner with a $15 salvage headliner in great shape.
the pass side rocker is in and just needs a few finishing touches. the drivers side rocker will need a little more work but tha tand the rear quarters will be fixed by my friend on wednesday and thursday night.

tomorrow and tuesday i will try to get the rear shocks in, heater resistor, pass side vent window swapped out, clean it real well, and tighten a loose trac bar bolt (thats why the steering is loose, not the box like i thought).and patch teh rust hole over the muffler.

then the rust should be done by thursday and then i am taking friday off to finish things up, install the lift and make sure its good to go for teh trip up to VT friday evening.

ps i do need a good 89 xj crank position sensor too.

on the other hand my rustys trac bar croke in my 95 xj today and though i already have my RE Extra HD trac bar i still need to order the bracket for it (i forgot to order them together) so i will be driving my g/f's tj till i get my xj fixed.

Well I delivered it on friday and he totally Crapped in his pants. he loves it. He spent most of teh weekend sitting in it and showing his family it and driving it. I am very pleased with it and as soon as i go back up to get a few finishing touches done i will take pics of it with him.

Good job. The world needs more people like you and your girl friend!

Glad to hear he liked it. Looking forward to seeing some pics of him with it.
