my turn....

Yeah he does, he has a bunch of honda junk he convinced some sap to pay 200$ for. :D

Sorry, I'm just very anti-Honda. Out of all the vehicles I've swapped blown motors out of for friend's and friend's of a friend, etc. I'd say about 75% of them have been Civic's. And out of those, only 1 was a "hopped up ricer". So Honda can take they're reputation for reliability and shove it.

Anyway, goodluck getting her all fixed up.

Here's my 200 dollar motor.

Dutch I'm not making this a hopped up Honda. Just making it a driver.

Ya ya yaaa. You've said this before. That is one side, and its a good argument, but the other side is the 95 Accord that my good friend still delivers with. It has been taken care of and just flipped 320k miles.

I know you're not, as said I'm just anti-Honda.

Like I said, all but one of the Civic motors I've swapped out were completely stock daily driver/commuter cars. I'm not saying Honda doesn;t make a reliable car, just that their lauded reputation isn't fully deserved. There are plenty of other reliable cars out there, and I prefer them over a company that makes lawn mowers.

I would guarantee that most of those issues we're due to lack of maintenence. Since most Honda's are purchased for "cheap" their owners are typically "cheap" as well and tend to lack in the care department. You wouldn't beleive how many cheap bastards try to get 100,000 miles out of an oil change.

Having worked on countless honda's and VW's...I am very much a honda fan ;). To each their own.

EDIT:

I forgot to mention that having owned several Honda's I've noticed a lot in build quality depending on where it was thrown together. All of the cars I've had/worked on from Japan are outstanding build quality. However Honda had plants in Mexico and Canada producing the same model cars during certain years. I've had a couple Canada and Mexico versions and the build quality wasn't nearly as good. It's worth noting simply because most car mfg's have the same consistancy issues.

My B5 S4 has a couple extra ponies on it. It's also at 210,000 miles and still running strong.

Me too, I drive a Passat. The wife gets to drive the Audi. Why? 1) she's spoiled 2) I would lose my license for the 5th time if I daily drove that thing. :D

Haha, Nice, I didn't even know you could lose your license that many times. If You're ever down south on a Sunday night you should come to the Park Meadows meetings. Your S4 Would be sick there and its pretty fun chattin up all the car guys.

So caught something HUGE as I was putting clutch on. The flex plate that was on the motor was incorrect which is probably why this guy was selling the motor. But thankfully I caught it before I got it all set up. So now my car should go when I let off the clutch.... No major updates today though just lazy day after work.

So after looking at this thing a bit everything is damn near hacked. Broken bolt in the transmission. One of the motor mounts is ripped off the crossmember which i am fixing, I think i know exactly why this motor blew. Oh well. At least i will know it is done correctly this time. Just need a throw out bearing and to drill and tap a few holes in the block, that stripped out, because of my stupidity. Then it will be ready to drop in. Re-do some wiring and Hopefully it runs right.
