Well, since being nominated for the secretary/treasure position, I feel I need to let all those know who I am and what I stand for.

First and foremost, my name is Matthew Strmiska. Its second nature for me to now answer to scrappy though. I am 21 years old, and all I can really say about that is at least my head is on my shoulders!

I grew up on a small farm where we grew raisin grapes and almonds. This is where I initially found my love for the environment to stem from. After moving into Fresno, I found a church that helped to instill into me characteristics that still today help define my decision making.

I attended Universal Technical Institute to study automotive, diesel, and industrial technology. I graduated there with a 3.9 GPA. Since then, I have decided to go back to school with aspirations to gain a masters in Environmental Science. I work for the local Jeep/Chrysler dealership as their Jeep specialist. Focusing on drivetrain diagnosis and warranty adviser.

School and work keep me awfully busy, but since I am not married and don't have children, I am able to give ample time to a group that has given me so much more than technical information. NAXJA has given me a few good friendships, along with many many fun friendships.

I know that the work required is important, so I will do what is necessary to keep our Sierra Chapter the most active and organized compared to the other chapters. During brief discussions between BryanC, it seems that with the new "blood" coming in, we are going to work towards more official runs and gaining a larger active membership.

I will serve the club best I can. I am by no means perfect, but I will do all I can to be professional and be a example for off road enthusiasts of all kinds. I would like to see more political action voiced by our chapter. More than anything, I want to have a good time.

So with that, if anyone has questions for me whether related to fulfilling the position or more personal, feel free to ask.

Matt

Well done.

Thanks for the intro for those of us who don't know you. I understand you'll be heading down to JV, so I look forward to being able to meet you in person.

You have my vote. It was nice meeting you yesterday. You've got big cahones for wheeling that new Unlimited Rubicon of yours. :laugh3:

Just Kidding, really nice job wheeling that thing, I would wheel with you again anytime!!

Just curious, does the chapter actually have money? What is(are) the source(s) and what do we use it for? Or is Secretary/Treasurer really just a correspondence position?

Thanks for stepping up Matt.

We have $140, in a paypal account, all from T-shirt sales last year, and the NAXJA Rubicon Run in '04.

We just figured you guys were kicking him out due to his web-wheeler status. :)

need i go on?

Is there a re-stocking fee? I lost the receipt.
