My new tow rig

I would be concerned about an open flame heat source while you were sleeping/wheeling. The oil filled electric heater I borrowed from Cheeseman was nice. You might look into getting something like that for overnight and only run the kerosene when you can keep an eye on it.

Plus, if you run electric heaters, it costs the campground money and not you. They charge enough, you should take advantage of it.

I'd imagine a fire in the back of your box truck would be entertaining, but ultimately not a lot of fun.
true. Maybe some of those oil filed jobbies. I wouldn't run the kerosene heater unless we were there. The dogs can live with an electric blanket while we're out wheeling.

Do you have an RV salvage around u? Get a forced air furnace from a wrecked camper.

hell no, I live in OH, no such thing as an RV salvage yard.

if you want to help me pull it i'll give you the one out of my truck camper...

all electric for me...

mac 'sept?' gyvr

camper deconstruction in wheelers front yard? sounds like his neighbors will love that.

Just make sure it's clean first, don't want to get any diseases from a dirty box.

I pressure washed it with a big hose. The sticker up front says to return it clean or there's a $20 charge.

No no no not camper deconstruction. Just pulling the propane furnace out. I may pull it out before then. I don't need it and I am working to eliminate anything propane out of the camper, everywhere I go has electricity or I/we bring a generator.

mac 'camp ground electricity is free!...kind of' gyvr

I'll bring this back up to the tpo.

the wienerbox has been serving us well, but the box rot (yeah, rotten boxes are nasty!) is an issue.

so, my box is going to get smaller and tighter.

it will fit

DSCF2335.jpg

has a 46" passthrough that has a latching door and a sliding window.

roof interior is done from a leaking antenna mount. It looks like it was just fiberglass and plywood skinned over with FRP. That's not such a big deal to me.

That space is 30" wide to the cabinet wall.
Behind the paneling is this space:

Which I assume was for tanks of oxygen. I think we can knock out the paneling and fit a sit down toilet/shower combo.

That's up by the front door on the passenger side. Looks a good place to stick a refridgerator/micowave combo. it's heat/ac stuff up above, probably gut that and use it for inverter, voltage and tank gauges. It oopens to a door outside, so I can run wires up there behind the appliances and still get to them.

bench on the passenger side with 3 seatbelts. This will stay bench and I'll figure out some way to expand it into bed.

Drivers side. sink will go under the vacuum gauges and such after that stuff is torn out. Leaves us the cabinets in the middle. Tanks below that paneling line on the drivers side. I'm going to seal up the wheel wells and cut them out for space under there and the bed/bench seat. Not sure about keeping the jumpseat up front, but I do want to keep the cabinet to the left of the passthrough, that opens up outside as well.

guages for tanks and shit. Probably tear out all of that, and if I'm not using it to run wires or water lines just cut it out for more storage.

and it's got this fairing. He said I could take that too since he was scrapping the cab. he's got the keys for all the doors and outside compartments. It's missing the door handle on the rear doors, but they opened from the inside.

So, that's it. I'm waiting for him to take it off the chassis so I can go pick it up. He told me it would be a few weeks till he got around to it.

I'm going to set this thing on some blocks in the driveway so I can work on it at the house. Get the inside all ready and then haul it to the truck to stick it on.

So, now I just need to figure out how to build a flatbed.

hi-speed low drag this will be.

lights! keep the lights!

short"party!"xjdoug

I don't get to tkeep the light bars, dude wants them.

keping all the lights on the sides, going to convert them to clear covers so I have zombie/pit lighting.

box turn signals and clearance lights will be wired in with the wienerbox running lights.

so, deal is done for the ambulance body.
I sent dude a deposit, going to pick it up end of the month.

Just going to chop the a and b pillars on the cab and take the whole roof +headliner for the fairing. I'm not sure if we'll use it because the International cab is so much taller than a pickup cab, but I'll have it if I need it.

might as well update this.

dude hasn't had his son around to help him pull the box off the chassis. So probably not pickig it up till 1st of the year at this point/. Works out well because we'll have christmas at my house this year and an ambulance body kills all my extra parking.

not dead, just behind schedule.

I hear ya, holidays, hunting , and work have slowed mine down also. I gotta burn up my vacation time soon so I will try do get all my materials lined up at the same time and go to town on it then

did that today.

Jeep winched it off the back.
2x4 levers kept it from falling off the trailer.
drove the trailer out from under it after it tipped back.

all very unsafely, in proper MWC fashion.
