So I was getting a tire wear pattern not necessarily a pattern but noticable wear that i could see.

I thought it looked like to much toe in i thought I had just a fuzz toe in 1/8 minus.

Decided to break done my othere wheels to use to measure toe

I was shocked to find i was toed in just over an inch.

I reset toe triple measured and set it at 1/16

Thats about it.
Was going to order the boostwerks steering brace but its out of stock for a few weeks.
Guess I'll build it.
Have a noticable amount of steering box flex on the frame aswell as acasional pop that I haven't yet been able to find.

Thinking about playing a few hundred my trail run this weekend mixed gravel rds and trails. Will have to pack fuel.

Are you going to do the whole pillow bearing like boostwerks? Baddadfab used an exhaust clamp.on his first model of hidden winch bumper.. actually pretty slick idea. He has since made it more like boostwerks. Socks they both are pretty expensive. Need to find the metal and make my own as well

I think I'll do it in steps since boost werx is out if stock.

Sfr inside frame reinforcement weld in plate. Then later add the boostwerks with pillow bearing crossmember.

I did think about ordering a crossmember for a 94-2002 dodge pickup these use the same pillow bearing but can be had for 80-100 bucks with free shipping offcourse theyd need reworked.

Did end up putting about 300 miles on this weekend. Lots of gravel washboard and some decent trails.

So after a few hundred miles my lower control arms started moving side to side at the axle. Tearing it down now and widing bushing slightly. I was unable to tighten bots nd get rid of it.
Brcket width is 2 5/8" poly bushings I made also 2 5/8" now a slight compressed 2 5/8"
Man it never ends.
Yes i tried to catch them on fire but failed.

You gonna just go JJ up front too? I seriously don't think its any louder or harsher than what you are running- heims being the noisy harsher ride of the 3. Id think itd allow controlled movement vs the wearing and deforming of the rubber that allowed unwanted play?

I think it was more that I made bushings exactly 2 5/8" wide. You could grab the bar and clunk it side to side had less play then the thickness of a 9/16 washer.

I ran a weld around the end to widen them slightly so they're a snug fit.

I can't clear a Jonny joint or 1.25 heim in my bracket

Might be able to see where I welded to widen it. In the picture. I can clear a heim in the lower hole but I like upper because arms are pretty flat.
These are cheap poly bushings off ebay that may also have something to do with it.

Up early starring at specs, in and out of the house poking tape measure from lower shock mount into engine bay and bumping under side of master cylinder
Hmmmm 25" works perfect for midrange that centers the 12" shock at ride height and does clear master cylinder.

Decided theres no reason to make the vehicle work around the shocks gota bite the bullet and just fab the upper end too.
Possibly a upper end that is adjustable a few inches for possible lift or shock tunning

Also to decide if its worth running 14" would require a slightly lowereing the lower to get mounts set for 7" up and down.

Still thinking. More coffee and head out and see where 31" exstended put things thats likely more than enough a few inches more than what i hve now.

Then to weigh the heavy pig call accutune back and have them do theyre magic.

I can't wait this thing already rides amazing i talked myself into this then accutune drove it home.

After few more days thinking measureng thinking.
I have room to run 12" shock.
Accutune says 5" up 7" down is on the money.
We just talked on the phone. Ive talked myself into the factory serious with compression adjusters
Talked more about the 2.0 ifp im running compared to a tuned shock hes like itl be night and day at speed shocks will resist bottoming but be soft going slow.
The ifp doesn't really resist bottoming at all

The shocks tuned to my tire size 33-35"
Low speed and high speed tuned to my actual rig terrain driving style and wants from the shock. The compression adjuster set in the middle range so I can stiffen them up or softer depending on conditions or if im running the freeway..

These shocks are long enough for most builds and can be revalved if i get lighter or heavier rig or if i decide its time to really go fast.

Its just time to spend the money and have fun . Atleast thats wht i keep telling myself.

Last pic is a old forgotten trail. tested lower arms sliding over rock's just about drug out the winch then pivoted around on a rocker and crawled out.
Got home and did the inner frame plate.

Getting distracted by 76, dad had a 77 when I was young

Going to be fun. Has a married 205 tcase 44 and 9" 435 trans with a 360 runs and drives actually decent.

Things that need attention wtf kinda scissor steering ughh thats cheesy track bar.

It's sitting a pretty nose down rake. Tentative plan is to put my welder on it. That'll fix the rake.

I was thinking cut the fenders put 35s but not sure ill be able to cut her. So maybe just 31 33s

But first it has headers that leak exhaust is all junk 9" leaking seat needs attention 205 leaking im sure the lost will get huge.

The guy I got it from was getting it ready for paint. Grill and everything is in the bed.

Im stocked

Xj may not get as much attention or new shocks now.

Xj has been looking on sad that im distracted.
I did get out with the sfr inner steering frame plate steering is more precise everywhere actually fairly impressed with tht mod.
I havent checked to see if the bost werx crossmember is back in stock yet.
Might put that off for abit. Steering and track bar on the 150 need done soon.
I've revived the 360 dmn thing actually runs pretty well.
Been running around town using the jeep as the parts getting rig.

The jeep drives like a sports car compared to this truck.

The ford only has 3.50 gears 44 and 9"
I think if I swap axles itl be with 60 70 combo.

Sweet old Ford! yea I wouldn't pull those axles for minor upgrade.

I see you used SFR inner frame plate. Mine took a hit on front driver corner. Wheeling it locked for years is doing some damage to frame rail. I'm thinking i'll sleeve all the way to the inner plate. You happy with your steering now?

Steering is more precise. I don't see the Steering bix fkexing the frame now. This jeep steers and drives very well been on the pavement alot thus month .even freeway at 75.

Spent the day laying under a trailer runing this 235. Ive had a love hate relationship with it since it made its way into my life. Today was a love it day. Burning overhead up hill through shity material. Crank n bake baby.

On topic the jeep had her first rocky trail maden run steering survived ruff stuff covers sliders fenders gashed up muffler is mangled but hanging in there.

Things I learned shes tuff enough to be drug through rocks . 3.55 gears suck, winch is a must but is killing approach angle. Need something to lay on rocks to protect cable.

Thats a spintech 3000 for the ford. If its not super loud ill be getting one for xj. Probly put a 1/4" plate on it.

I guess a learning phase is all. Im new to inverters. Took some getting used to a machine that's learning how I weld.
