right on...thanks...honestly i went to the ol' trusty youtube and found out how to do them...if you still want me to do sord of a write on them i will

That would be cool, thanks!

You can either go to wal-mart or a craft store to pick up the dye. They are failrly expensive at wal-mart, so I would suggest going to a craft store and picking up the dye (good thing about this is you get to pick the colors you want). Wash the shirts first and don't run them through the dryer (leave them damp). I like to use little squirt bottles for the dye, but you can also dip them (haven't done this though). Read the directions on the dye packets (if you don't buy the kit) to know how much to use and such.

Now for the designs:
1. Spiral - I just use a fork and pick where you want the spiral on the shirt. Then place the fork on the shirt and start spinning until your shirt is spun as far is it will go. Help the rest of the shirt tighten up with your hands. I ususally use about 4 rubberbands. In placing the rubberbands on the shirts, have them all meet in the middle and make like a pie design with them. Then just dye each piece your desired color.

2. Spider - For this design lay the shirt on a table (flat surface) and have the front of the shirt facing you. Next fold the shirt completely in half, sleeve to sleeve, neck to neck. About 1/4 the way down from the colar (directly across from the under arm) pinch and start spinning. On the dying part I will do my best to explain this but looking on youtube will be your best bet. How I did mine, was dye a round circle of red in the very center of spiral. For the other colors just make a line of dye, following the creases and moving outward.

Something you can walk around is your best bet in helping you spin the shirts and getting them tight. I let mine sit for 24 hours, then take it to a sink and rinse out until the water is clear. Then through it in the wash and dry it. There you have it, a nice, original tie dye shirt!

Post up if anyone else does it!

Well here are how the two I said I was doing turned out, if anyone is interested.
Anyone else given it a go?

Showed my wife your tie dye's and she said you should sign up with etsy.com and sell them online. She does embroidery, and alot of crafts, and sells on there alot.

wow...thanks for the compliment...ask her if there are a lot of people on that website buying items like that?

There are tons of people on that site, and you can set your price, and even post a certain quantity at a time so that you can give it a shot to see how they sell without diving into it with both feet.

Thanks mcraindog. I will gather the supplies and try this next weekend. Anyone done a pocket T shirt? Are the pocket ones harder to do w/o messing up the color at the pocket.

Cool shirts guys!

So pesimistic :moon:: Have you ever been to Boulder?... Lol

It's gorgeous up there in the summer. Not to mention some first class wheeling around there.
Speaking of Boulder, Has anyone been to Woody's Wood Fired Pizza?
I Love that place... it's kinda like Zak's in Moab... with a nice outside patio.
Yes, I have been there. I had a nephew that used to live there and I have brought cars in there many times.

I still stand by my comment. The scenery is beatuiful but it could never make up for the idiots that surround that area.
