My gauges stopped working! WTF!

So I was driving and realized my airbag light was on and my rpm and mph light stopped. So I turn it off and start it back up than all the gauges stopped! Why?

The same thing happens on my '98. I think I have an intermittent ground somewhere because it tends to happen and correct itself when I hit bumps. I'd love to know if anyone else has had this problem and fixed it.

same thing for me,it comes and goes!! i have a 98 as well! wierd!

Common issue. You need to pull the gauge pod and clean the contacts in the socket.

so pull the whole gauge cluster off?

Thump the dash with your fist right above the AC vents.......


That's what I do when all my gauges drop off....


This seems to ba a common problem. What I don't get is why the airbag light comes on???

(BTW mine's a '98)

Yeah, with the later models, there is a socket that the whole cluster plugs in to when it is inserted to the dash.

I had the same problem and tried tracing if for two weeks, then gave up. I took it to an electrical mechanic and he had it fixed before lunch. (some wire under the steering wheel.)$100 to fix.

It's losing power, Fuse 15 under the hood I believe. Sounds like a bad connection as stated above since it's coming and going. Shouldn't be hard at all to fix. The airbag light comes on to tell you there is a problem with the airbag circuit.

Fuse 15? What about it and where exactly is it? And what exactly to fix it? Lol sorry but i hate the flickering dash syndrome!

If it is the fuse, you clean the contacts to it. If the fuse was blown, you wouldn't be flickering. It is the pod plug, not the fuse. (based on many other threads, just search it)

I also had this at one point. I could jiggle the key and get the gauges back. Ended up replacing the key switch.
