My dealings with Rusty's Offroad

Why is Rusty no longer a sponsor?

Probably because of all the grieve he gets from the Rusty's bashers on this forum. Why would he sponsor their mechanism to spread ill will?

I can honestly say never had bad customer service from Rusty's...but I've also never bought any of his products. When the XJ needs something I check here 1st.

Tis a good story and good to hear for someone who bought their rig with rusty's 4.5" (plus bb), fixed uppers and lowers, and tb/bracket.

cool, calm, and collected threads like this are good.... lets keep things sane, however, i couldnt be farther from agreeing w/ this comment... he cant fed-ex you a replacement part out on the trail... and thats where its gonna fail, IF it does... and the warranty is only worth the man printing it... wh

sometimes a warranty will sell a shitty product, and not everyone returns junk after it brakes. many consider it a lesson learned, or a by-product of their own actions.... very few actually go thru the motions...

i have no personal opinion on rustys.... the forums collected experiences and opinions are good enough... nothing personal though.

Alot of people say they don't like his products, but for customer service like that, to me that makes the product. And if it really was a bad product, the man himself wouldn't stand behind it.

If only Fed Ex could deliver on the trail...couple nights camping out and voila parts arrive...only 1 week late for work!
Obviously Rusty continually improves his stuff as long term testing and fresh ideas, developments etc. dictate changes.....I think the nice thing is he wasn't asked to fix it and yet he not only fixed it but brought it up to date all for free. Now thats the kinda of company I want to support. :yelclap:
Hell thats the kinda of company I would like to work for....except of course I'd have to leave Oregon (pronounced Heaven). :laugh3:

very nice!

rusty is always willing to talk and help out when I've called him.

though I don't really run any of his stuff anymore he was pretty helpful.

Good to see him standing up behind his product.

If I see 1/4 of the threads on here about him start to turn positive instead of negative I might change my mind about him.

I'm not holding my breath though.

I was avoiding this thread 'cuz I wasn't in the mood for bitchin' and complainin'... ran out of stuff to read and feeling resilient so I hit this thread... great to find a 'feel good' story. well done Rusty and thanks for the report.

I have never had a bad experience with Rusty's always had good service and when I needed something replaced because it broke or wore out they always were happy to help me out.

Rusty's contacted me about a month ago wanting to be a sponsor again. We kept missing each other, and finally got all done this weekend.

My rig came with the 4.5" Rusty's lift. It's still in one piece; of course, I need to start replacing bushings as the ones on my lift are in pretty bad shape. Probably hit the end of their useful life.

One of my first XJ lift kits was from Rusty's and this is going back when he first started out. In fact I heard about him through word of mouth and had a hard time finding him online. I never had a problem with the lift the whole time I had it but it did take awhile to get back then. In fact I believe more times it was Rusty answering the phone and it was it'll be there in a couple weeks at the time. Orders are filled alittle quicker now. Still good stuff.

well I gave Rusty's a call today about my tie rod that I bought from them about a year ago. Being the original buyer and having what looks to me like a defect in the tie rod end (or cheap material) I thought this should be pretty straight forward, right? no not at all. I was given a part number and set on my way. so much for being constant or fair. no offense hale but maybe if I sell you my tie rod it would get fixed. here are some pictures tell me what you think. and yes the jam nut was tight when I hit the trail...

I'd be might happy if my tie rod ends lasted a year.

the tie rod end it self was still in great condition still tight and held grease. it just decided to sheer off where it threads into the tie rod.

Nice! :roflmao:

I love when that happens. Its right up there with tires getting sliced while you drive down a flat dirt road.
