I have a '88 honda crx and it's been primered for the last month or two... and since then it's gotten very dirty... i was wondering if i can wash a primered car. Also... when i am driving sometimes when i push on the gas it sputters and sometimes it just dies when i stop... or if i push the gas pedal too hard it won't work.. once i pressed the pedal all the way down and it didn't do anything! and just recently when I try to start my car it won't start ... or it starts but then dies. I was told my throttle censor(I don't really know what it's called) was going out... if so.. where do i get one.. how much does it cost? I am not really sure if this is the right place to put this.

Asking for help on a honda at a Jeep site is like asking to get flamed. Washing primer isn't a great idea. Primer is porous and if there was bare metal underneath, it will rust. As for the engine problem. If you aren't familiar with the throttle position sensor, maybe a trip to the local dealer is in order.

You registered on a Jeep forum to ask a question about your Honda?

Excuse me while I go to the Woman's Day forum to ask about a vesectomy.

I thought other tech was for non-Jeep Tech Questions???? Doesn't seem that out of place to me??? But also not the best place to get an answer specific to a Honda.

Anyway, yes you can wash your primed car. As Tom mentioned though most primers are porous. They are made that way so paint will adhear to them. The primer adhears to bare metal and old paint and paint adhears to primer. If Your car is covered in primer it is possible that the old paint was scuffed and primed, so washing it won't hurt. Also, if it is in primer and it has been rained or snowed on, washing it at this point is not going to hurt it any more than the rain or snow. Moral of the story is, do not leave it in primer forever unless it was primed over the old paint job. If it was sanded to bare metal anywhere on the car (even just spots) it will start to rust through the primer in time.

As for the Throttle Position Sensor it is an easy part to replace but will likely require some setup after installation. It is a fairly easy process for a dealer or even a local garage. But it is also possible that the problem lies elsewhere. I personally don't like Jap cars and like Honda's even less so my suggestion would be to trade it for some American metal :). But if you must keep it I would take it in to find out why it is running poorly and go from there.

Welcome to NAXJA and go get yourself a Jeep!

Check post count, check name. Registered on a Jeep board to ask a Honda question. Go figure.

While there are many who can answer the question, it still is silly.

At least she posted it in the right forum. She'd have really gotten flamed if she'd posted it in Mod Tech.

That would have been priceless

Try here:

www.importforum.com

When I want to do the forum thing with my honda issues I go there. Just like any other forum pay attention and be careful about the advice you take. There are ding bats and those that really know what there talking about just like anywhere else.

how the hell did crx chick get so many reputation points after asking only 1 question?? (a HONDA question none-the-less??)

:dunno:

maybe everyone gave her bad rep so the "powers that be" turned it green for her. I think yes it is silly to register here to ask about a Honda, but I think it also shows that maybe our rep for being a good tech site is spreading. And maybe she will go out and but a Jeep, assuming people relax... :D

oh, no, don't get me wrong here--

i think its GREAT that someone probably told her about the excellent tech (jeep or otherwise) that we offer here...

i mean, right this minute I have a tech question posted about help with a forklift....

whats so great about this site is the great diversity we have here!
our XJs (and MJs) brought us together here....and everyone has such a tremendous collective wealth of information and experiences-- that is such a great resource to have available

my brother has a honda prelude and i jokingly make fun of it sometimes, but all in all its a good car and gets a lot better mileage than my lifted XJ... (debatable topic for another time)

I have no problem helping anyone with questions that I can answer or help with!

carry on, carry on. . .
