my 91 xj

Fan clutch? Air in the cooling system?

Nice XJ for the money you bought and looks too be rust free as far as I could see, nice for rigs this old. As far as the D35 goes a good Chy 8.25 can be bought for usually under $200 make sure its the 29 spline axle in it from a later model.

If your looking for a Winch Bumper have a look here www.roxolidtrailarmor.com all they are XJ Bumpers and are really nice people to deal with. I have one of their rear swing out tire bumpers (was $600 shipped) and they are a real quality built unit, their prices can't be beat for sure and if anything happens to my winch bumper (a cheap craigslist purchase $50) I will buy his Crawler series. They do have 2 lines of the bumpers the Crawler is the higher priced one and a less expensive one starting at just over $2xx.

You have a very nice XJ it looks like to base your build on for sure as far as I can see, good luck and keep us updated with photos as you go.

Its about 98% rust free. Garage kept by the previous owner.

The only rust i found was on the drivers door after i peeled the rubber off. But some wet sandkng and primer took care of it before it turned to cancer.

So far its been a super fun truck. Its my 3rd xj. First one ive actually been able to drive more then a week, my last 89 2 door was a heep of wireing and suspension issues not to mention i was givin the car with a lean sale pink on it. That was a nightmare..

As far as bumpers go. I picked up the logan metal fab one on ebay [red xj pictured above] for the front. Im going to weld on my own winch plate later.

And for a rear bumper im buying blondjons old bumper. And ill have to build my own tire rack for it. Like he had

Got the front bumper painted and mounted.

Its good to me. But im sure there are better bunpers out there. Only time will tell how this one holds up..

I cant complain. I got the bumper for 159. And spent 40 bucks on hardware to mount it up.

It dose have extended mounts that tie into the steering box and two other holes like the jcr mounts.

If i were to do this again i would go diy jcr kit.

Ya that thing is pretty sweeet
I'm thinking about selling my rigidco and doing a fit winch bumper from dirtbound

Thanks. I actually like the look of this bumper. And i was at a gas station just after i finished instaling it and had a tacoma guy checking it out.

The plan is to add a winch plate and some pre runner style bars later.

Tanks to blondejon and ae i was able to get jons old bumper. And it will live on!

Thanks again ae for bringing it down. I offered him cash for thr troubles and he wouldnt take it. What a great community we have here.

a flap wheel and that thing will look better than it did on my rig. that thing took so many hits going fast in reverse into big rocks and hill sides. I think my frame bent a little, but not that guy.

hah, thats the plan. i cant mount it any time soon. ran out of money. and its only like the 4th day of the month! ha.

i was wondering what the 2 flaps where on the underside of the bumper? looks like it was protecting something?

they were about 2-3" longer and were welded straight to the trailer hitch for additional support. it was a tank of a bumper.

i was able to clean it up a bit and lay down a fresh coat of paint.

i had to buy some grinding/cutting wheels so i wasnt able to get to the flaps or ends yet. but hopefully have this thing mounted thursday afternoon.

Hey no problem man, Just pay it forward like I said. We help others out and when we need it, hopefully someone else will be able to lend a hand.
