Mud Bog ??

I'm running the Faithwheelers Mud Bog/Obstacle Course and I'd like some help.
Over the past couple of months there have been some issues with other events and we'd like to learn from other people's mistakes. Please post up with good ideas and things that weren't so good from our previous events, or other events. What really worked well, what didn't?

A couple of changes we're making this year.
1. Traffic flow with 3 obstacle course runs and 2 mud bogs is a challenge. We're re-routing traffic this year and trying to police it better.
2. Excessive alcohol use has been an issue at several recent events. We are advertising this as a dry event and any caught with alcohol will be removed. We have hired to off duty Eatonville cops for the event.
3. Our paramedic will be more visible.
4. We're doubling our bathrooms.
5. We don't really have a shut down area for the bogs, since 90% of the people don't make it out anyway, but we're using orange barricade fencing this year instead of caution tape or diamond flag stuff to mark off spectator areas. These barricades will all be built with steel posts.
6. We're improving communication between event officials with FRS radios. We're also adding a lot more people. This year we will have upwards of 100 people helping out from parking, to registration, tech inspection, spectator control, course marshals, spotters, recovery guys and then support staff for food, vendor support etc.
7. We're not getting a crane, but we hope to have a wrecker available for harder extractions but since this is a playday, not a race day, highlifting, winching, pulling is all part of the action. It's not just about how fast can we get someone out. Getting out, up or over is part of the fun and part of the expeirence. We are using a dozer and tractor for the mud bog. Each will be equipped with heavy duty chains to hook up to the vehicles, with properly installed hooks.

Can you think of anything we have missed, need to do differently. I'd especially like to hear about what you like from other events.
