I just bought a Blaupunkt CD Player that reads MP3s. I want to put my MP3s on CD-Rs so I won't have my orginal CDs in the Jeep. My question is, what software do I need? Is there any out there that is any good for free or shareware? I have the latest Windows Media Player, can I use it to burn MP3 CDs? I have looked and don't see where you can.

Thanks

Jason

Try a search for Musicmatch Jukebox...

It does ok...

It's what I use for burning my mp3s onto cd's...

If I had to buy a program, I would buy Nero (?)...

Yeah, what Gil said. Just burn data cd's with mp3's. Make sure though how many files can you have in a folder and how deep your folders can go and what bit rate the deck supports.

You don't want some special software to do this. Any software that will burn a CD will do just fine, even the crap that's built into windows XP. Windoze Media Player and the like are used to make a normal (not mp3) audio CD from mp3 files. Just put a blank CD into the burner, drag and drop your mp3 file into the drive in "My Computer". There should be a "write these files to cd" button somewhere. Burn it. Your mp3 player will read it just fine.

Just kinda went thru this a couple of weeks ago. I picked up a freebee called 'audiograbber' I take the commerical cd I bought and put it in my dvdrom drive, grab the audio files and then convert them to mp3's. Once thats done I then put a blank cdr in my hp cdburner and use nero to build the file list that I want to put on the cd and burn it. Nero also has the option of leaving the CD 'open' which means you can add more songs later vs closing it after burning. audiograbber also querys a database server to ID the cd and it's contents so the name of the songs get written as well instead of 'track-01, track-02, etc'
I also have 'cdex' but have not used it yet, so I don't know if it's better or not.

roxio cd creator does it fer me.

Whatever came with your burner should be just fine - I usually use either Adaptec/Roxio EZ-CD, or Iomega HotBurn Pro - both work well.

You can use both packages to either burn .mp3 to .cda (and make regular audio CD's) or burn the .mp3's as datafiles and have an .mp3 disc - it's up to you. If you tell it you want an audio cd, it will automatically convert for you - if you tell it data, it will preserve the .mp3 format for you. Easy enough!

Thanks for the info!! I am going to try the drag and drop method and see if I like it before spending money on software. Don't want to dip into the Jeep fund! :)
