Hi need some advice from you in the MWC. I just got married and me and the wife are looking to buy our first place. We are looking in South East Wisconsin along 94. Need some advice on good towns to live in that I can afford (under 100k). I read good and bad about Milwaukee, Racine and Kenosha. So just looking for some advice on neighborhoods and possibly a realtor.

Cant help with a realtor, But I live in Northeasetern IL just south of kenosha. Look at bristol, trevor, salem areas are pretty quiet and not to far from any action. just my 2 cents.

Bristol, Trevor, Salem

Or just 20 or so minutes from 94 you can look at Pell Lake, Twin Lakes, Wilmot and such.

Wisconsin is the best move you'll make. Cheese, Beer, Brats and Super Bowl Champs...

Don't forget freak snow storms bringing 12" in late March...after days in the 70s.

ok. set aside everything else and point out one thing from your comment.

You can NOT say your cheese is anywhere near the same playing level as ours. Hands down, no argument. :shhh:

There is no doubt about that! Just sayin' we do have cheese here! :D

Can't help ya too much, I pretty much know the western side of the sate...

But one more good thing round here is we have some die-hard NAXJA folks in these parts...

Them southern folk rarely show their faces up here... Sometimes I wonder if they just can't handle it... ;)

Welcome to Wisconsin! Grab a beer and some Bacon-Cheddar cheese and Get'er Done!

milwaukee, racine, and kenosha all have there good and bad areas. i would look in surrounding small towns like some already mentioned. i live in Waterford which is about 15 miles west of I-94 in Racine County. great small town.

Avoid Racine, but any of the small towns around it are fairly okay, as long as they're far enough that the crime doesn't reach them. And everyone down there thinks all of Milwaukee is like the Northside (ghetto) It's not, and some of the western burbs are pretty reasonable. A decent place in the city of Milwaukee in a decent neigborhood is more like 200k...

And *threadjack* find me a new XJ along the way (see "take pity on me thread")!

And if this is Screech from Saved by the Bell don't bother moving here, you already have on forclosed home in SE Wisconsin! :)

I'm in Caledonia and I agree on the smaller towns thing. If you can get closer to or west of the interstate that seems to be the best. I managed to find a foreclosure home which helped out a lot. I will give you a negative though, if you'll be looking for a job don't be a state worker. It seems we are the bad guys lately to the governor.

Also, welcome to Wisconsin. If you like beer we have tons of micro brews around.
