Mounting Winch off-center?

I want to mount my Winch behind the front crossmember (under the radiator). However, if I center the winch, it hits the steering box. Is there any reason why the winch couldn't be mounted off-center towards the passenger's side?

Not really. A few inches won't matter that much. Remember as the line spools in, it weaves back and for on the drum several inches.

Thanks for the response. Does the fairlead need to be centered on the winch drum or can it be centered on the vehicle?

Ideally on the winch.
