More performance from late model ECU?

Ok so starting with a 93 XJ. Adding in a renix block that is about 4000miles old, a 95 head (with good amount of port matching, porting head, etc), 2000 intake, banks header, and some form, not to sure what yet, ignition stuff.

Is any of the responsivness and early low end power in the newer 4.0's due to the newer programming and ECU?

Or just run the 93 and dont mess with the harness and newer ECU?

Also, any issues with the Renix short block and the 93 harness and sensors?

Should I post this in the stock or mod area, or here? :dunno:

I would use the older style harness(newer ones have more 02's and it's not really worth the trouble IMO), get yourself a good downpipe for that header, oversized throttlebody, CAI with a good catback and maybe a slightly larger cam and call it done!

HO's tend to have more high end power, while Renix tends to be more torquey down low. Part is cam related while some is due to the exhaust restriction in the Renix head.

I think the obd1 setups respond to mods better. Renix had smaller tbs, smaller injectors, worse flowing head, and the same cam as the HO was advanced for more low end torque and less high end HP. I have the opinion that 94-95 were very good years for Jeep(I drive manuals, so like the external slave cylinder introduced in 94; if auto 91-95).
