Same here. I was actually in for a couple years... I left when there was a leadership change. The old leadership didn't follow scout rules.. One the new leadership came in and made people pray and stuff I was out of there.
My mom was a girl scout leader so I got dragged along to all the girl scout meetings and campouts. Just when I started thinking about trying to peak into the showers at summercamp she shipped off with my dad. He was a boy scout leader.
I gotta tell you - we're involved with the cub scouts right now. My son wants to go to the meetings and campouts because all his friends are there - but I gotta tell you: of all the groups we are involved with, the absolute wierdest grownups are found at a cub scout function. I don't know what it is: I have a theory that all the losers in the world are hoping that scouting will give their precious little JR a leg up into high society. I don't know how much longer I can stand it. I absolutely loath at least 98% of the parents at any given scouting function. After an hour long meeting it takes the rest of the night for my jaws to relax from the grinding I do just to keep my mouth shut.
When I was a scout it was 20 guys in a room with two dad's: a scout master and an assistant. If you got out of line you got a boot to the butt and no whiny parent around to complain about it. At these cub scout meetings there's more parents than kids. I just drop him off and pick him up. I can't stay there anymore.
Just like the rest of the world, scouting has gone to hell in a handbasket. It sucks.
My shop is/was(partly) filthy, Have a Cj-7 to work on tomorrow, so wanted it somewhat organized and free brake drum dust on the floor that your son left for me too clean up
