More 99+ intake manifold questions

I have a 2000 TJ intake manifold that's ready to swap onto my 1997 XJ. The manifold came bare, but I have a line on some 01 injectors and fuel rail for cheap. Should I just swap over my 97 parts, or would these 01 parts be an improvement? Thanks guys,

Derek

From what I understand (have read) the rail will fit ok, but the injectors may need some fabbing to get the old plugs to fit them.
check out " GoJeep " website, this link will take you to the swap page.

He's on here somewhere, but I would think others on here have done this and can also answer your question better than I can.
I am waiting for my 2000 intake to arrive to put on my 97, so if you get it done before me please write your thoughts and what you needed to make it work ( "Y" joint for hoses, extended hoses etc)
I would really like to know how it worked out for you, so I have something to look forward too.
Have you done anything else for upgrades, cold air intake, headers, cat bak... I have done all 3 and this will be my final upgrade for the engine... for a while.
Best of luck with this project.

The injectors will fit in the manifold just fine. The only issue with fitment is the electrical plug for new injectors.
Could you elaborate? This mod is on my list and I'm looking for details to watch for...

I'm not sure what your asking, but all the injectors fit the same into the manifold, no matter what year. The only difference is in mid 2000 I believe, the connection plug changed, but you can jerry rig it to work with the older style plug. O, and as to your original question, there would be no benefit except that they have less miles on them. I would just use the old ones, unless you got the other ones for free and wanted to kill some time.

ok, thanks for the explanations guys. I've looked at Go Jeeps write up many many times, and noticed the plug ins were a diffferent shape. Thanks for clearing it up, definetly not worth it to me.

BTW, I have a 6"x9" K&N and a flowmaster 40

I did this swap on my 98, it was a 01 manifold. Everything will bolt up just fine even the plugs of the injectors. Since you aren't swapping fuel rails or anything like that, just a bear housing, your 97 injectors should fit in the 00 manifold just fine. I believe in late 96, they switch to the late model smaller injectors. Gojeep had to fab up wiring harnesses for the injectors because he had older injectors that won't fit in the late model manifold. Everything bolts up, you just have to do some creative vacuum hose fabbing.

Thanks, that's exactly what I wanted to hear...

yes for the 96-98 4.0L's it is a straight swap except like you said to get creative with the vacuum lines but still it's no big deal!
BUT I dont think you will get the gains that GoJeep and I did b/c we changed fuel system parts (99+ injectors and Hecso adjustable fuel pressure regulator) also and I even bored out the intake manifold and have quite a few other goodies in my 4.0L.

Yeah you won't notice a big gain with just the swap, as you would on an earlier model, you need to do other mods to truely gain the potential of the late model manifold, which I am in the middle of now. Exhaust header, board-out throttle body, cat-back, and even looking a tuner of some sort. I have a feeling I am running a little lean at times.
