Mojave Rd Run, April 9-12

A wonderful time of the year to run the Mojave Rd. Lots of scenery and historical signifigance to this trail.

It is quite a drive down there but it's worth it once every ten years or so!

Anyone interested? Maybe we could meet up with some SoCal Naxja guys?

Southern California desert, the Mojave to be exact. You start the trail near Laughlin, NV. Head west from there, 138 miles.

There is a nice write up in this month's 4whd sport utility mag.

I've done this trail twice, both times we drove down Friday during the day, spent the night in Laughlin, camped sat night, stayed sunday night in Bakersfield, came home monday.

Mojave road is a fun trip for sure. Made a trip in '08 and it was a blast.

Being the absolute newb that I am, how difficult is it? Though it looks like it would make for some amazing photographs.

Does sound fun. IMHO the logistics need to be worked out pretty well to make sure everyone has a good time.

Boatwrench is correct. It does require a decent amount of planning. And time committment too. Like I said in a previous post, the best way (from NorCal) we have found to do it is travel from NorCal on Friday, spend Friday night in Lauglin, NV. Run the trail Sat-Sun. Travel to Bakersfield Sunday night and spend the night. Then come home Monday. So as you can see most people are going to have to committ a day or two off from work. This being said, it's nice to travel via caravan and stay in the same Hotels, etc.

And make no mistake, Laughlin, NV is not just around the corner!

If this were to be a possibility we should start now making plans. Maybe we could co-ordinate with SoCal naxja?

I'm going to take the liberty and suggest a date we can shoot for. April 9-12.

I can take point on doing a lot of the organization but I don't really know the trail all that well, can someone volunteer to take that?

BTW- this trail is very Family/stocker oriented. Bring ANY 4wd, including the family Suburban! Full sizers welcome.

I'm definitely interested, and was looking for a good way to spend some of my time off :) It'd be nice to put my RHD (Still Stock) Beast on the dirt :)
 
Double check the dates. I believe this is about the time there is the big "River Run" Harley-Davidson ride to Laughlin. If it is get hotel rooms NOW!
 
I'll look into that thanks. We of coarse don't have to stay in Laughlin, there are plenty of other places. It's just the close proximity to a Friday night on the town sort of thing.

I'm looking for more interest from NAXJA. And does anyone have any connections to SoCal NAXJA?
 
Looks like SOCAL is planning also.

Hey guys i am in bakersfield right off of the 58. I am interested in doing this. How much gas is needed to do the entire trail? Also i have two acres here in Bakersfield and you all are welcome to tent it in my pasture if you would like.
