mj 4x4, 2stroke?

To put it simply, a 2 stroke engine as only 2 stroke instead of 4 for a revolution, and does not have any oil in it. The oil is mixed in the gasoline, cooling the bearings and internals as it goes through the process. So this type of motor will work any way you want, the only problem being the carburetor on boats engine. But a chainsaw or weedeater will work all around.

The cam is set up for high rpms, so your low end torque is going to really suck. You are going to need to put one hell of a flywheel on there to get the rotating mass you need to start off. Oiling is going to be a problem like was said. The last problem is that if you are going to get it licensed for the street, good luck.

Heck, I would rather go with a Honda Gold Wing motor.

I'm going to take some pictures of an block apart tomorrow, so you guys can understand how it works. There is no oilpan, no cams, no valves. Actually there are "reed valves", on this older motor they are straight on the crankshaft. Oiling is not going to be a problem, as I will either mix the gas straight in the tank, or setup a simple injection system I'll discuss in due time. As for licensed, of course i could never BUT here in quebec, when a car is plated, it never has to be checked again... it's somehow stupid but very nice for us who like to f*ck around with their car. As long as I don't get stupid and pulled over, and get the cop too open the hood, I'll be fine.

I found this, the read blocks being number 3. There is two on this 4 cylinder, a 3 on my 6.

Most 2strokes don't have cam.

The power band is all in the porting and exhaust.

I did once see a small block chevy turned into a 2stroke. A friend of mine had an auto shop teacher who did it for fun/education. it never made it off the engine stand as far as I know, but it did run.

A cop who knows anything about vehicles would probably notice the different smell coming from the Jeep...:)

It's an interesting concept, not sure how good it'll work out, or if it'd be even worthwhile compared with getting a junkyard engine. At least as far as cost goes.

how nice of you to point this out. you're right. it wouldn't. the 2.8 ran clockwise, and so does the outboard, but I'm putting it upside down... well change of plans but I'm still doing it it's just already plan B.

Sorry, I got fixated on the boat motor thing and mine have always been 4 strokes.

The two strokes I raced for years had rotary valves, not reed valves and you could cut them to vary the timing to a certain extent.

I'm just gonna report this thread for being a blatant law violation discussion. If other guys can't discuss removing cats and putting in test pipes, there should be no reason for this to carry on.
