Minute Man

Anyone born in the United States qualifies for citizenship. That's the law of the land. Do a thorough genealogical search into your own origins and check your ancestral history. Most likely you'll find your ancestors fled their countries illegally to avoid being impressed into the army of invaders, jailed or killed for their religious beliefs, to keep their families alive during famines or to keep the government from wiping them out for being sub-human. Before you start barking and howling at the moon about someone fleeing death camps at your expense, make sure your own pedigree is "spotless"

Actually my “pedigree” steams from France (worthless non appreciative country that it is) and my ancestors left after being chased out of the country to the colonies over here in the Americas, weren’t to many immigration LAWS in place back then. Then they started out as fur trappers and kicked the snout out of the American Indians and took there land from them along with all the rest of the white Europeans that settled into what is now the United States of America, as well as pushing Mexico back into were their borders are now. Oh and along the way we created Immigration LAWS that are to be followed…Now I will agree with the fact that they are outdated and need to be revamped from the ground up but as of today they are still LAWS..

Anything else?

So your ancestors violated the law to get here. How does that make your claim to citizenship more valid?

The point he was making was that if the law didn't exist, it couldn't've been broken. We're talking about in colonial times, for Chrissakes. Shall we follow this back to its logical conclusion and attempt to declare the Mayflower's arrival an invasion of Spanish territory?

Actually dog can taste better than goat [I hate mutton], monkey is not bad either...baloots [sp] though, there I draw the line, they make me gag upwind...
I had a Filipino roomie at one time that brought baloot home one time.

" Wanna try some?"

"Sure, what is it?"

"Traditonal food...pickled baby ducks...in the eggs still"

*hork* "I'll pass"

Fergie

There is NOTHING PICKLED about Baloot. ROTTEN and FERMENTED is a better description. Spent over 6 months in the PI at various times.

Kimchee in Korea is almost as bad, basically it's rotting sauerkraut! In the Navy we used the term "Deep Kimchee" as a way of saying Deep Sh*t. THAT'S what it smells like!

The 2 most disgusting foods I have ever encountered and I've been everywhere except the poles!

LOL…I was in Hawaii a while back and tried kimchee for the first time. I was not impressed! My Hawaiian/Filipina "lady-friend" also introduced me to some homemade chicharrone, chicken adobo…mmmmm…now that was good stuff!

Anyway, to me it seems that the Minutemen have already accomplished their goal, regardless of the outcome.

They're getting press (though not as much as they should be getting), and people are taking more notice of how big a problem it is. I think we as a country are getting to a point where the politicians can't turn away from it anymore.

Of course the biggest problem is bureaucracy. Somewhere b/w the legislative/budgeting process and the implementation of the procedures, getting more agents on the ground, etc., something gets screwed up, and the problem doesn't get solved. What a surprise.

I have no problem with people coming across the border by using the proper channels. There's a reason why people come to this country in droves (my parents did too, from the Netherlands, in the 50's…and did so legally! And they learned English, promptly!). No other country on this planet has a problem of this magnitude. I have no problem with someone wanting to make a better life for his/her family. But do it LEGALLY, bureaucratic red tape notwithstanding.

I say we build a huge wall. The cost? Obscene. But effective? Certainly.

I'm wondering if we could get the illegals to build it? :D

Question for the AZ folks: What's the status of that proposition that was passed a while back? Didn't it have something to do with denying illegals medical benefits, etc.? I've heard the hospitals in that part of the country are stretched pretty thin.

Actually, balut and kim chee are pretty tasty. Balut are fertilized duck eggs that are allowed to mature to just before the bones calcify, then boiled or cooked in the sand in full sun. Every once in a while you get one that is crunchy, but learn to deal with it. Kim chee is a type of pickle made with cabbage and/or a wide variety of other veggies with lots of garlic and red pepper. Pungent might describe it well. A single Korean woman's prospects are much brighter if her family has a good kim chee recipe. Kind of funny - we used to talk about the Koreans smelling like kim chee and they would say we smelled like meat. A spit-roasted dog tastes very good, but I don't care for dog stew that much. The only food I've found that I don't want to deal with is dinuguan (pork blood stew). My wife makes that all the time but won't eat a medium rare steak. Go figure.

Enjoy

My point exactly. Many sent to this country were criminals in the eyes of the law. Zip wants to deny citizenship to someone who's parents got here anyway they could to avoid torture, rape and death though it violated the law. Zips' ancestors were run out of the country most likely because they violated the law. My Finnish ancestors fled their country because they violated the law. True, they were evil laws laid down by Russian tyrants, not the American legislative system, but the law was nonetheless violated- and for one, I'm glad.

Our solution does not lie in denegrating others.

As my Scottish ancestor said when given a raw deal by his lord: Think On

My Jewish Eastern European ancestors would have said, "Here, eat something, you'll feel better."

As my Italian recycling guy told me just last month: "You like the beer, eh?"

LMAO

As to Prop 200 yah it passed and has become Law but it ONLY applies to Welfare bennies so far.. We have a new Law that made it to the ballot that will allow Government assistance to be given in English only at the offices if it passes (And it is expected to). While I don’t quite know what to think of this it goes to show how bad it has become here in AZ and other border states. Funny thing is if you really get a feel for what most people think here (remember 60%+ are Hispanic and first Gen at that at least here in Tucson) they are sick of the illegals as well. I just hope we get some real results in stead of the normal political BS that spins off from this kind of attention. Oh and for those of you that think I’m just some racist redneck without getting to personal my first wife is Mexican my 2 boys are bilingual and my girlfriend now is Hispanic as well. Main difference that people seem to miss is they are all hear LEGALLY and the funny thing is you should hear there FAR right views on this subject…

Maybe I should just blame it all on “THE MAN”

That, sir is the best suggestion I have heard all week.

I believe that I will have to toss the AR-15 in the Heep this weekend. Where in WA are you? I just moved out East from Port Angeles last year.

Florida not withstanding there were a couple 2 or 3 Native Indians here somewhere...I'm pretty sure they have SOME KIND of claim.
