Most likely you'll find your ancestors fled their countries illegally to avoid being impressed into the army of invaders, jailed or killed for their religious beliefs, to keep their families alive during famines or to keep the government from wiping them out for being sub-human. Before you start barking and howling at the moon about someone fleeing death camps at your expense, make sure your own pedigree is "spotless"
Actually my “pedigree” steams from France (worthless non appreciative country that it is) and my ancestors left after being chased out of the country to the colonies over here in the Americas, weren’t to many immigration LAWS in place back then. Then they started out as fur trappers and kicked the snout out of the American Indians and took there land from them along with all the rest of the white Europeans that settled into what is now the United States of America, as well as pushing Mexico back into were their borders are now. Oh and along the way we created Immigration LAWS that are to be followed…Now I will agree with the fact that they are outdated and need to be revamped from the ground up but as of today they are still LAWS..
Anything else?
