Minneapolis peeps check in(Bridge collapse)

Just got the news update on that also. The pictures are pretty bad but thankfully only some were injured.

They are reporting between 30 to 60 cars are in the water. It is crude to say it. But there reporting that people are trapped under the water in crushed cars that the rescuers can not get to.

35W is a major roadway for the Minneapolis/St.Paul area. It happened at 6:05pm, Rush hour. Traffic was bumper to bumper, 10 mph when it went down.

Cell phone networks here are jammed around here.

Its weird. I crossed that bridge twice this morning. I do delivery runs for auto body shops in the Twin Cities.

Ya'll are still stuck with me.

Just saw the story online.....very sad. Hope nobody from here was involved...

About 15 or so years ago I was doing a service call in Syracuse NY and had to do another on Albany NY, 10 min after I went over a bridge on the NY state thruway it collapsed, 15 people I think and a 200ft drop to the river, scary. Guess it was not my time. Wife was frantic, I didn't call her till I got to a hotel 5 hours later and saw it on TV.

Thats funny I was watching a show on History Channel last night that talked about that bridge.

Hope that no one from here had any loses due to this bridge collapse.
And RichP you are right it wasn't your time to go. You were spared to be here to harrass everyone on these forums for eternity.

Or at least post a thousand threads in the Den telling us about all the beautiful women that he sees yet never seems to get pics of.

Glad to hear that the death toll is 5 with only 8 missing. It sucks that anyone had to die but when you look at the magnitude of that disaster its a miracle that more didn't die.

True, I'm the 'anti-beej'...
:laugh2:

HEY!

Pretty sad state there in MN, very tragic. I spent the day with a guy yesterday who was blaming all sorts of things for the collapse, mostly trying to say it must have been human error and therefore everyone deserved to die, blah blah blah. I know he's mentally ill, but jeez its hard to be empathic and understanding with someone who's so impaired and uninsightful. At the end of my time with him, I was so angry under the surface that had to go sit in the trees and think of the victims to reaccess a better emotional experience...

Maybe 5 or 6 slaps were in order, as for sitting in the trees, careful there or they might take your ID away and make you wear pajamas and slippers... :D

haven't you heard? Its all Bush's fault. If we haven't spent a Trillion dollars in Iraq we could have fixed that bridge.

Never mind the fact that we are spending three times on infrastructure now then we did when Clinton was in office.

<snort> My g/f was wondering this afternoon how bad MSP was tied up..... "why?" Bush was flying in today......

I'm of the opinion that politicians coming in to see the site should just be bitch-slapped. Get the hell out of the way, and let the emergency services, analysts, scientists and engineers do their job. Go back to your offices and find the money to fix this.
