This is a photo of the North American XB-70 Valkyrie, a supersonic bomber test plane, capable of flying three times the speed of sound. Plane #2 was destroyed in 1966 when it was hit by a an F-104 Starfighter during a photo shoot. Plane #1 continued in its research program until 1969 and was retired to the USAF Museum in Dayton, OH, where it is currently on display.
