they say its a Russian Yak, but it looks like a japanese Zero

Yak-9 (IIRC it is a 9).

Note shape of wings, engine nacelle (zero used radial engine), construction/shape of canopy, location of horizontal stabilizer on fuse and profile of rudder. Definitely not a Zero.

Today was the last day of the F-14 tomcat in US operational service.

Reminds me of the "emergency landing" we did at the air field in Episkopi (Cyprus) in 1982. Landing gear wouldn't deploy unless until we did a few high G dive and pull up maneauvres.

Nothing but the best for the Canadian military. Those b!tches were already ancient then.
