I've seen tons of pics and heard the stories. I want to try it anyone else? Don't have a particular date in mind. We were talking about it lightly tonight at the Valley M&G. So my point is would anyone want to hit that up with me? Let me know folks.

Sure i wouldnt mind checking it out one weekend. Let me know if you plan something.

I'm pretty open as far as weekend dates go. Lemme know what's good for y'all. I have never been there before so I don't really know what's it's like. Chime in folks what's the skinny!

Maybe a couple of weekends after BB.
Do you know if there are many other trails around that area, we may be able to hit up also. Miller sounds like its kinda short.

or at the very least a nice pub to end up at afterwards :D

give me a date and time and i'll see what i can do

Sounds like fun.. Maybe at the end of Aug or mid Sept? I know folks will be preping for Moab, but for those of us that can't go can make something happen. I usually like to do something the week of Fall Fling anyways....

ya its a pretty cool trail, but you guys should check with the forest service to see if its open now. there was a fire over there, they closed everything down. according to them, for at least a year. Another trail near that is called piru creek, not difficult, but fun with the river crossings, and if youre into speed at all, the first few miles of the trail is just dirt roads.

Lockwood Valley/Miller Jeep Trail is about twelve miles long, the last two straight up.
The trail right now is a dusty moonscape, all scorched from the Day Fire. The trees are all charred toothpicks with many tagged for removal before they fall. It dosen't look anything like past pictures. There are a couple of green trees left at Sunset Camp, but it burned right up to the picnic table.
Not to discourage, but a heads up on what to expect.

Don't do donuts at the top.. the rangers don't think its very funny and the fines can be high. (Hi xj_ranger!) ;)

X2...

and the trails are open.

the trail will take a large sized group a while to run - lunch at the creek seems to be fairly common...

It aparently takes 2 XJ's about 45 minutes to run from the summit down... But I cant varify as my jeep was being driven by Scrappy while I was too hung over to wheel... :conceited
