just thought i'd pass the word on! Usually kept in the front of the store with the regular ice chest... 7.00 a container. I'm always needing dry ice for something. had NO idea that Meijer stores carried it! :wave1:

Almost every Wal-mart I've ever been in sells it too - they usually have a deep freezer in their customer service section up front.

I'm really happy for you. That's great!

One of those things in life I have never had a need for, however if I ever do I sure hope I remember this thread :D :D :D :D

Kind of like that thing you put somewhere so you won't forget where it was, then 5 months later have no clue where it is....

Get a plastic pop bottle, size matters but they're all cool. Break up some dry ice and put it inside. You want enough 'cause it sucks when it doesn't blow. A cup or 2 should be enough. Fill the bottle about 1/2 to 3/4 with water (not hot, it'll blow too fast), and cap it. I give it a good squeeze before putting the cap on so it doesn't build pressure while I'm putting it on. Set it down and get back 100 ft or so.

These things are great to watch. They grow a lot before they blow and are VERY loud. Do not set one off in an enclosed area! I did a small one in physics lab w/ liquid n2 when the TA stepped out, and it was so loud I didn't hear a thing. It emptied the trash can it was in, and I saw people covering their ears mouthing cuss words, but all I could hear was a faint ringing sound. My hearing turned back on 30 seconds later. Other than the probable hearing damage it was very cool. :spin1:

OH MY GOD, I'M SO EXCITED, GOTTA HAVE SOME DRY ICE! :D

Just so you guys know...

liquid nitrogen works just as well for the bomb trick... 2L soda bottle, fill it about 2" deep in the bottom. We used to drop these into storm gratings around campus to scare the crap out of people, tying them to a large stone with a few feet of rope and throwing them into a lake makes a pretty awesome spout of water too, looks like a depth charge going off. You only have a few SECONDS before it goes off though with liquid nitrogen if you throw it into something containing water, if you just put it in a trashcan or similar it takes 7 to 12 minutes to go off. Both the dry ice and liquid nitrogen styles have enough force to easily break every bone in your hand and likely cut you deeply with the frozen shards of plastic, so you really shouldn't be messing around with this kind of stuff unless you know exactly what you're doing. Don't even think about doing this drunk and you should be 150% alert and fully rested.

if you hurt or kill yourself doing this, I'm not responsible, I will say "I told you so"

Good luck finding liquid nitrogen for sale. I don't even think Wal-mart carries that :D

We used to get it from our friends in the chem labs at school :anon: :eyes:
