Make sure to clean ALL the snow off your XJ in Jersey!

I got lucky this time....My wife was driving in Greenwich Twp. NJ near Phillipsburg, and got pulled over. The obviously board officer said she had snow on the roof. He let her go with a warning. But the thing is there was about 1/4" of powder snow on the roof. He said the fine is 200$ and 2 points. I can understand it is unsafe when people have tons of snow or sheets of ice flying off their roof. Anyway I'm not gonna bitch about how stupid this was since he didnt give her as ticket, instead I'll let my fellow XJ'ers know try to get ALL the snow off your rig.

You have to be kidding. Here in Colorado it is not unusual to see someone in the morning with 12 inches on the roof and a ton on the hood. It is always fun when you speed up and the snow on the roof all the sudden plasters the windshield. If the defrosters have heated up the windshield, you are likely to hear a loud crack. :wow:

When was the last time we had snow here ... a week ago? 4, 5 days? Saw an SUV in the garage at work with about 3" on the roof. Made me mad for more than 1 reasons - 1 being ... where are the cops? :(

I actually got a warning from a bored Wyoming HP on the way to the Sturgis Rally one year. He wrote the warning for 67 in a 65. I wanted to ask him if the donut shop was closed that morning, but he was being such a moron that I was already having trouble keeping a straight face. I figured that just laughing all the way to camp would be more fun than giving the dork a reason to really be upset.

I'm still getting people coming into my job with completely snow covered roofs and it all melts and completely soaks the shop's floor.

Want to have more fun?
Pretend you are deaf when they walk up to your car.
You'd be amazed at what they say.

:nono:

Thats ridiculous. Skreed I was in Easton yesterday so i know about how much snow you got in p-burg. It was barely even a dusting

Yes it was that small dusting of fluffy snow we got after the big storm...I did not even think it would be an issue.

And yes I see people with tons of snow on the roof....Better than that is the people who turn their wipers on with a foot of snow on the windshield and break the linkage, then drive around with a 4 inch square window of clear windshield to see out of.

Seen way too many people do that. Had one lady come in the shop in a brand new lexus that the wipers weren't working. She stripped out the arms and that's dealer only item. Can't imagine how much that would cost.

I usually whack the snowpack on the roof with my snow broom to break it up and then drive up the side of a snowbank and let it slide off. Found out the hard way that the draw bar stuck in my rear receiver will get jammed on the asphalt and leave me stuck if I take it too far :gee:

After having my windshield demolished by some idiot in a minivan (I still have their plate memorized...) I hope a special spot in hell is reserved for the people who leave massive sheets of ice up there. A little snow (not a lot) I could care less though.

A lot of snow drives me nuts. A little bit, I don't care as long as it doesn't cause a white out while driving behind them. I can't stand when people drive around with snow all over there cars a week after the last snow storm.

oh...like this?

Is your wife good looking?
I think that might explain a lot.

I've been driving for 50 years, never cleaned the top of vehicles, and never got pulled over.

Nowadays, I live two blocks from the police station.

and how many times have you dumped a load of ice chunks on the poor sod behind you and busted his windshield?

Not that I have ever had this happen to me or anything. And I was at least a hundred feet back and a lane over from the retard driving the minivan that lost the ice.
