Lsd?

ok, so is a LSD really worth it in a jeep? Driving like i do I've gotten the axle to hop, slide, everything and I'm wondering if sinking $350 into a LSD would actually be a good idea, or just save it and invest it somewhere else??

thanks

Have you checked your axle yet? Some Jeeps came with a factory LSD.

Otherwise, probably the most cost effective way would be to find a stock one on ebay or out of a junker.

One of two ways- the potential way and the actual way.
The potential way: Trans in neutral, jack up one side of the axle and try to turn the wheel. If it turns the driveshaft, it's open. If it doesn't, it's a LSD.
The actual way: Pull the diff cover and look for clutches. Oh, and change the fluid while you're in there.

With the 8-1/4 rear... what should I look for at the wreckers or when scrounging ebay etc.. Any ID tags or casting numbers to check?

I'd like to go the easiest route possible to save some $ for other more important (to me anyways) stuff ;)

cheers,
