Lowdown on small trailer axles?

I asked this a while back, but I cannot find the thread.

Anyhow, I've a small utility/pickup bed type trailer that has a Ford 9" underneath it which makes it unreal heavy.

Anyone know where to get regular axles for small trailers?

Mine is in the 4x6 range, just a little guy.

I'm sure there is someone local - that link was to the first thing I found on search.

There's also a good chance of getting a full car width trailer axle from a repair shop for cheap....they get bent all the time, and get the whole thing replaced. You might be able to buy one of the bent ones for scrap metal value. Cut out the bent spot and narrow it.

Trailer axles are also full float.....way better for loads unlike most 9" axles that are semi float.

Most people think theirs is bent too.....they have the bow in them unloaded and straighten out after they have load on them. lol

I considered this, but for such a simple thing, I'd rather not have to cut and weld and screw around. This size trailer axle has to be literally everywhere.

Huh; hadn't thought of that before! Good point.

Yeah, like the 'stinkbug' stance on pickups people seem to hate so much. I love the way that's designed.

Huh; hadn't thought of the full-floating angle before! Good point.
