Lost coast beaches?

Anybody know if the black sand beaches in fort bragg, CA are still open to 4x4's? I searched hear and google. The link here had pics from a 2004 trip, but didn't show jeeps on the beach, and google turned up that the beaches were closed as of 2000. I haven't found any othe info, and I'm headed up that way this weekend. Are there other good trails up there? Let me know. If the area totaly sucks I may just head to the feather river cannyon instead...

The local club here, the Madhatters, just made a trip out there in April and were on the beach. So I believe they are still open. They have some photos of their trip on their site.

The road you want is the Usal Road. It leads to the beach we could drive on during last year's Lost Coast run. There are some other roads in the area to do as well. Try to get a map of the area. I have a book on roads in the area and there are a couple that are interesting. Kings Peak Rd. and Saddle Mountain Rd. these are all in the Lost Coast area. and then the Fort Bragg-Sherwood Road which is an old logging road between Hwy 1 and 101.
