I have been flushing the cooling system using the prestone product and the results were massive brown water.
It appears to be clear now after connecting the hose to the reservoir bottle, yes the original cooling set up, and running the engine util clear water comes out.

Int he process of draining, i turned the petcock too far and now the winged plug is lost. Looked all over for it for hours.
The radiator has a boss brazed in the tank so the typical petcock it isn't.
The threads appear to be 8 mm because a 516 is too small and a 3/8 too big.

Suggestions? I don't know what the thread spec is. Is there a part number for this old of a radiator?

The petcock valve drains too slowly and is easy to break, I never use them.

Get a bolt and some JB weld.

The alternative to draining is really messy.
That will be my last resort without the JBW.
I have what is suppose to be the right one but it is too big.
Going to get a metric die set to reduce it down to 8mm and see if there is any meat left on the fitting.

You mean this little guy?

I just changed the radiator on my '88 and kept the drain plug. It measured as a 10x1.5mm about 12mm long (from the base of the draincock without the washer). I found a bolt the same diam/pitch and it fit.

Part numbers are:

83505381 (plastic)

J3166547 (metal)

Odd that Rockauto does have the plastic one but says it's for the 92-01 and is 5/8x18 (search on the part number).

It's a pipe thread so the body of the drain stays in the radiator.

Crown makes the brass one. You can search on Amazon or your local autoparts store using the Mopar part number.

Is the barrel (part that goes into the tank) still there?

Yes. The tank portion is great.
Pipe thread makes sense because no bolt would fit.
I purchased from NAPA 61105 but the body would not fit in the tank boss. The other part with the "wings" started but wouldn't go all the way in.
Ended up going to HF and picked up a magnetic floor sweeper, 22." I remembered the parts of the lawn where I dompted the dirty water. Started at the last dump which was right next to the drive way. Found the part in less than 10'! Good think it was steel and not brass!

Thanks all for the suggestions and the place to look (Saudade)!

Keep running that magnetic sweeper around the yard. You'll be impressed with how much other stuff you find. Besides all the staples and nails from a re-roof despite them using tarps, I found a lot of nails from the original construction 20 years ago.
