Looks solid at this point that my girlfriend and I will be moving to NJ soon. She is going to accept the job offer in NJ, and I have a line on a potential job in NYC.

We gave notice yesterday at the loft we live in now, and should be heading up to Hoboken to look for lofts in the near future.

It will certainly be different for me. :)

Thanks for all the tips given in my older thread. Look forward to meeting some of you all. :)

What is this "garden state" thing? I am confused.

I was in NJ in the late 80's, and the only thing related to a garden was the growing amount of garbage. :)

Thanks Rich, appreciated.

We will probably be up in a week or two to start looking at places in Hoboken, unless I have to go up sooner for an interview in NYC.

I hear they re-opened NJ. ;)

Looks like we are heading up Monday... will be spending as much time as needed to find loft in the Hoboken area. Oh boy... :D

Welcome to the dark side Glenn.

Feel free to drop me a line, I'm just south of Hoboken.

Cool, Thanks. We are getting ready to head up shortly to find a place.... as soon as I get some blood in my alcohol system. :D We had the most amazing party last night... or this morning. :D

Welcome to the armpit of America! Plenty of bars in Hoboken for you to party. :)

Thanks. :)

Made it to NJ about midnight last night. We are staying at a friends house in Cranburry(sp?). So far so good. :) Off to Hoboken etc... this afternoon to check out the neigborhoods and places to live.

The toll roads where a surprise.. LOL

What part? Would love to know if you have any leads, or just want to try grabbing a beer. Might be able to fit that in.... but have not been getting back to Cranburry until 1-2am each night. Makes for long days. :)

We started our search for lofts in Jersey City. YUK! is about it. We found one that we can use as a fallback, but not a great neighborhood and the loft if mediocre. Going to look there again tomorrow, probably closer to the waterfront just South of the Hoboken PATH station.

We are now looking more towards Hoboken itself. Drove through today and loved it. Have an appoint. tomorrow to see an apartment on the waterfront. Brand new place... . sorta small.. but if worse comes to worse.

BTW... went to NYC for the first time in my life. Met some friends for dinner then went to the Beacon Theater to see Elvis Costello with Allen Toussaint. 4th row tickets... 3 hour show. Was a blast!!! Loved the city. :) Took the Path in to the World Trade Center then the subway etc...

Looks like we got a place in Hoboken. Right on the Hudson, small apartment, but for the location it is pretty good. First building off the water on 14th. If anybody is near, if it goes thru... we should get together for a drink. We are looking to be moved in by the 1st of Aug at the latest.

Congratulations Glenn. Considering how difficult it usually is for anyone to find a reasonable place around there, looks like you guys did a good job.

Even though I'd guess wheeling is not your priority anytime soon, after you're settled in - it shouldn't be too difficult to get you at least a ride to Paragon in late summer or the fall. There's a bunch of NAXJA guys nearby - and, at the very least, I can make a run down I78 to go get you when the time comes.

It sure ain't the idyllic San Juans, but welcome to Jersey and NYC. If nothing else, you folks won't get bored.

Thanks Mike. Yeah, it was a bit difficult to find a place. The internet is full of listings, but it really does seem like we got one of the last available places in that area.

Wheeling will come later. But hopefully not too much later.

Yeah, not in the same class as the San Juans... but the waterfront of Hoboken is pretty nice. NYC Ferry is right out the front door, so will do lots of stuff in the city too.

Nice to have you up this way. I am original from Jersey City not to far from you in Hoboken. I am in NY now. good luck with the move hope to see you wheeling soon.

Thanks.

Once I find a job, I will get back out on the trails. After I purchase another Jeep. :)
