Looking for Light/Moderate Trails in CT

I am going to be in northwestern Connecticut next week and want to take my nephew out in the XJ. I will be in Torrington (north of Waterbury). Does anyone know of any light/moderate trails up that way? Better yet, anyone know of any memorial day trail rides up that way?

I am not familiar with Connecticut and have never done any wheeling up north. I've tried emailing some local clubs but no one has responded yet.

I am not looking for anything spectactular. I just want to have some fun without breaking my rig (its a long way back to southwest Virginia). I just want a little dirt to play in to entertain my six year old nephew.

Thanks for the help,
-Brian

In case it matters here is what I will be driving: 4.5" RE lift, 4.10 gears, 32x11.5" BFG MT's, Ford 8.8 rear (unfortunately open), Tomken rocker rails and bumpers, skidrow engine/trans skid, AA SYE, Tera2Lo, etc. I will also have a small portable winch (30k rolling, 3k static) winch, highlift, tow straps, shovel, etc.

Check out Paine Hill... info around here somewhere.

I have found some pages describing trips there and discussions about seasonal closures. However, I can't seem to find any directions beyond it being in Union, Connecticut. Where can I get directions to the trail head?

Thanks,
-Brian

I just saw that you're looking for Memorial Day weekend.

Check out Mohawk Madness. The meeting place is North Adams, MA, which will be about an hour to an hour and a half north from where you will be. Just follow Route 8 north and it brings you right into North Adams, within a block of the BigY market where the group will be meeting. The big wheeling day will be Saturday. Probably many folks will also be there on Sunday but the organizers had to beg off so Sunday will be more ad hoc. There's a Friday afternoon run, camping overnight (group sire already reserved), and meeting time Saturday morning will be 08:30.

What about that place alonside RT 95 around RI that I pass when heading to Cape Cod. I see all kinds of stuff going on there, it's on the northbound side.

Aside from not being anywhere close to where he's going to be, what about it? Rich, I'd like to get more info so I can check the place out. I have no idea where you're talking about. Could you send me a PM with some specifics?
