I was at the pull a part today looking for springs and found a dakota which is said to give 4". Then I noticed a Isuzu Trooper that looked like it had massive arch seemed like 2" more than the dakota has anyone used or heard of anyone using these springs before? I can pick up the springs for $15 a set
Thanks
They were both the same width as the XJ
I am planning on using the XJ main leaf and the rest from one of the other packs. if I go with the isuzu I will probably cut the eyes of the end and make it like a full length aal pack sort of. I know it can be done with dakota but thought I might venture into uncharted waters with the isuzu. Any thoughts
The Dakota leaves added to the stock XJ main leaf will only net around 3" by themselves, unless you also use the main leaf with the spring eyes cut off of them, then you'll be closer to 4". Never heard of using the Isuzu leaves. The Dakota leaves are used mainly because they are the right width, and more importantly, they have an offset center pin like the XJ's leaves do.
if you use all the leafs except the main one out of a half ton ford(f150), it will net 4.5" of lift. did this on my cherokee. make sure you get 2wd springs though, cause 4x4 ones are wider. also, i'm not sure if later model springs will work. i used em outta a 77 but theyre all the same between 73-79 at least. good luck.
