Looking for a sanity check for the upcoming build

One more vote for rails, tow points, and skids to start the list.
Why?
Because as soon as you start, you will want to try it out.
You will get body damage without protection.

1. tow hooks, tow pkg (if not already on), rock rails, t-case skid and gas tank skid.

I'd avoid the wench until the rig is built. Otherwise the wench will take all of your money and you won't be able to afford a winch.

I agree. Take the time to get to know your Hi-Lift jack. It is the multi use tool on the trail, I have come to find out. It can be used for many things, from changing tires to being used to pull you out of mud holes to helping you over rocks. Sometimes all you need is a little push or that little pull or that little lift to get you where you need to be and a winch is over kill in situations such as that. Also, if you are smart, you go out in groups, so don't worry about being the hero until you are capable of doing so. I still don't have a winch (wish I did though) and my Hi-Lift is still doing the job. Do yourself a favor though, buy the wide base and the handle silencer thingy with the jack. Just my .02 on the winch thing.

P.S. try using recovery straps, chains, etc to pull yourself out if you're in the mud like I always am. Trees or a buddys truck works well as a ratcheting point. Sometimes you don't have the room to get a good pull with another vehicle and this is where the Hi-Lift comes in handy. Good Luck and have fun!
