Looking for a local A/C Repair guy (562)

Hey guys looking for some recommendations for a member or shop within a 45 minute drive from Long Beach to do what ever needs to happen to make my AC blow cold. Either a R-12 to 134 convert or a freeze-12 job.

1992 XJ. As far as I can tell everything works just nothing cold.
Thanks

yeah they made us pull all of it we had on the shelf and send it back to NAPA at the start of the year. you can still buy it on ebay but i dunno if they can ship to CA. its way cheaper to convert, the kids are like 40 bucks.

The problem with that cheap conversion kit is, that it's not enough to really make the R134 work properly. You would also need to replace the drier and flush the complete system to get it clean enough to refill it with the proper oil.

Untrue about R12 in CA. I have a guy named Harvey @ Garden Grove Radiator 714 539 5101 that still sells R12 and has taken care of my 88 XJ AC many times. Tell him Greg said hello. Great guy. Honest to a fault.

Yeah, my understanding is R-12 is still legal for sale. It just has to be through a EPA licensed facility. When I was trying to find a way to evacuate my system, I saw all kinds of threads on other bulletin boards regarding it.

UPDATE: I called up Harvey and showed up yesterday. He absolutely has and sold me R12. He fixed two small leaks on the compressor fittings and charged my system. The smile I had on the way home was unbelievable with ice cold air blowing into the cabin.

Great guy. Nice clean shop.

The R12 sells for $55/lb plus labor...my jeep took 2.38lbs

Yep. Harvey is a first class guy. Glad he could help you out. He's kept me in R12 when I needed it for a few years now.
