I want to learn to rebuild and re gear my jeep so I thought I would buy and 8.25 I can set on the bench and learn as I go without taking my jeep off the road. Anyone have a good source in the LA area.

Junkyards tend to be a pretty decent place to find one. Watch for some of the yard to have a 1/2 off sale. You're going to be rebuilding it anyway, so condition isn't a real big deal. Just don't buy one that has been sitting outside in the desert for 10 months with the diff cover off.

Also, when you rebuild it, be sure to either use a Chrysler crush sleeve (not OEM) or fabricate a solid spacer once you know the required thickness for pinion spacer.

I have one in Pasadena. it has 456's and limited slip. Id be willing to let it go for 100 bucks.. Its all pulled and ready to be picked up.

It's also got the cool Titanium U joint caps/straps as well.
