Hello everyone, I'm in search of a couple bilstein 5100 shocks, preferrably the polished metal finish ones, but I'm not going to be picky if I can get replacement shocks of the right length for cheaper than store price. My current problem is, before I knew much about my jeep, I bought shocks from a shop that obviously didn't know what they were doing in the first place, and they gave me a pair in the rear that don't have hardly any travel, because the shock body is too long. I'm going to measure my max extension and depression lengths to see what I need, but a used pair of shocks would be great. Thanks

What length do you need?

What shocks did you get and what length are they?

Hey Cal, did some research at Bilstein. I've got the BE5-6249-H5 in the rear, and 6248 in the front. My rear passenger side is the only one giving me trouble, cuz it's only got a couple inches of downtravel. The other side is fine, i've heard the alternate mounting points in the rear make for different shock length requirements.
But anyway, Bilstein said the 6248 in the rear would be better, because the 49 has 17.91" collapsed, and 29.70 extended, and the 48 would give me 15.91" collapsed, and 25.93 extended. I would like a shock that could give me like, 14" collapsed and 30" extended, but that's probably impossible.
If you've got a 6248 around, or a pair, that'd be awesome. Or if you knew someone that might. I'm calling around, getting prices, but would love to get a used one or two if i could. Thanks in advance for your help.
