I'm thinking this is better than looking like Cracker!

The two tubes in the cab area are not even tacked in yet. I'm not convinced I like them there, maybe set them at angles....you know, triangulation!

I know I need to pick up some fore and aft triangulation....maybe tomarrow. Its time to take a break.

Non of what I have been doing has been the time eating detail stuff.
Basicly all macro work right now. It will appear to slow to a crawl when I get down to all those little things. It also is only tacked together. The idea is to be able to get full circle welds on the roof line by dropping the cage down thru the floor board. I still think I might cut some of the roof to gain access to the passenger area roof line welds.

I have an idea about how to cover the storage area, but I need someone to weld up some aluminium for me. Troy? :D

Today will be devoted to cutting the supports and braces.

I was planning on using some 2X4 tubing for rock rails...but the way it is now I don't see a need for rails, at least the rails we traditionaly use on full bodied rigs. Now I wish I had some 2" .250 tube.....

BTW I do have a regular job, well, kinda'. I think I need to go to work today.

:D

Hey Now! You can't even compare the two; my skinny pedal isn't stuck to the floor. Besides that I'm fixing the dents and then I'm going to learn to drive.

Okay.....then it was starting to look like....umm......DAN'S!!

Besides, I'm soft of the skinny!

:D

I had a chance to send a crew out today that didn't need me to look over thier shoulder the whole time....so, I popped into the garage!
What a waste of time, I spent two hours trying to modify the over head braces on the front. It just wasn't happening today.
So I come inside and ........take a nap!
Sometimes it takes a break in the action to make things more clear. I figured out how to go about what I was trying to do, and I also figured out another way of doing it.
It will probably take me half an hour to fix it up.
I need to finish these braces so I can lower the cage and complete the overhead welds, then start puting the rest of the cage together.
I also think I have a good idea on how to finish the 'sliders' on this one.
OH....and I also figured out my neat hinge protection idea isn't going to work...oh well, if I take another nap a better idea might come to me!!

I had an idea of angling the overheads...but no. I'll add some 1" supports later. Also installed the front supports.

This picture might give you an idea of how I am doing the 'boat sides' or rock sliders. The 2X4 will be installed at an angle and tied right into the factory rails thru the floor board. This will also give me a nice place to support the cage at the floor.

I'll be pulling down the cage tomarrow and start welding it up. Maybe I can get it staight then! ;)

Looking good. Keep going!! Forget about supervising your crew. They can deal with it.. It's your rep not mine. :)
