What can i do about control arms. My RE Super Flex short arms are not long enough anymore. i am however happy with there performance. so to save a few bucks does it make sense to upgrade to adjustable control arms? rather than long arms?

here is why i ask.....

as it stands now i have RE 4.5" springs front and rear. 1.5" shackles and ACOS up front adjusted to approx 1-1.5". so i am sitting at approx 5.5" on 33" tires. my track bar is maxed out. i have an adjustable one on order. I am also running the TNT belly skid, which is also part of the reason i want to stick with the shorty's. i would rather not spend the extra $$$ on a pan that fits long arms or having to move the mounts etc...

so what makes sense? go with adjustable CA's ? bite the bullet (really don't wanna) and get the long arm upgrade & belly pan etc...?

if i go adjustable's do i go with rusty's, RE's, or ? ? ?

couldnt you just keep those arms and get some drop-brackets?

ahhhh...gotcha...

I personally think JKS makes the best adjustable CAs....they are SUPER beefy!!!

It replaces the crossmember. Your TNT one would be history. The crossmember is similar to a Clayton's.

My brother in law makes them. I could talk to him about integrating a skidplate. Josh runs this kit too.

i get a red X. or is it just me ? ?

just you
I see an x member with lowers and one upper arm

No pic here either, but the last time I saw his set-up,cheap would not be my word of choice!

Honestly, if you're gonna spend money on upgrades, you're not really gonna gain crap out of lower adjustables. They'll still have harsh angles and limit travel, so there's no point.

If you really want to retain your belly pan skid, go with the RK 3-Link. They'll work with eachother, or we can make them work with eachother, and they'll flex like crazy!

If you don't mind ditching the pan, and selling it and your short arms to get your $$ back, go with my brother in law's kit.

Please, somebody correct me if I am wrong - but the RE brackets are 1/4" thick and not likely to go anywhere. Additionally, long arms have to be mounted somewhere on the frame rail, correct? So wouldn't you lose clearance there, too - only worse since it is further from the front tires?
Based on what I know, I'd go with RE drop brackets & braces. Cheap, restore ride quality, gojeep runs em and hasn't any complaints, and parts for control arms are easier to find if they are stock compatible.

Rod rock crawls, and sees instances where he rolls over a rock often. Now if he rolls over a rock and theres a big drop bracket sitting there, he's likely to get hung up on it often, not ideal...
