Long Arm

Hi all...

I was at Pick n Pull in Salinas Calif. and got some 33 inch long ( roughly, bushing to bushing) lower control arms from an XJ. I could not get the frame brackets as they were welded on ( also got a winch bumper and some Napier flares, thanks to Radistrad letting me know it was there!!!) at anyrate it was a strange set up, as the upper control arms were short, bone stock! The long arms I got have Johnny Joints on one end (need rebuild) and rubber bushing on the other these have 1.25 inch threads ends into the arm

so what brand frame mounts are recommended, and what long upper control arms should I get?

I already have middle frame stiffeners 5.5inch lift, 33x 12.5 tires, Atlas 2, Warn manual hubs, and a dana 30 disconnect axle ( with solid axle),

Application is Californian rock crawling, with lots of highway travel we overland camp a lot

What is good option for me to get a long arm given I have these sweet long lower arms now?

Also, just wondering why on earth did this XJ at the wrecker have long lower arms, but stock upper short arms?

Anyway please advise on the best way to go to for a lo g arm conversion given I already have lower long control arms sitting on my work bench. Three link, four link, which brand mounts to frame? I can weld.

also thinki g of dana 30 axle sleeves, maybe a truss, I probably should regear as it has a 4.11 ratio now so it is a bit on the low end for the 33 tires ratio wise ( in addition to this, being a 1990 XJ , my AW4 has the 0.75 OD gearing rather than the later 0.705 gearing for OD so on highway I need to down shift a lot, where as Radistrad's XJ is a 2001, with a 0.705 AW5 OD gear, so I have trouble keeping up with him on highway steep up grades.

Pretty strange setup. There is going to be substantial caster change as the wheels go through their travel, and as a result, I think there is going to be significant binding during flex. The reason for the binding is that during flex, the driver-side arms and the passenger-side arms are going to want different caster values. Can't have two different caster values at once on a solid axle.

The rubber bushings will take up some of the binding, but the the axle will become progressively stiffer against flex as the amount of flex increases.
