From the symptoms, I'll bet a paddle or toggle or whatever it is called is broken. If so, even if the gap is correct, it will not work...a no-slip has to be precisely installed or the paddle will break off.

I have the block guage at home, I can measure it and post the dimesions up tommorow but I'm not sure it's the same for all the no-slip models, mines a no-slip for a d44.
