ok now I got the axle shafts out but the carrier wont come out of the passengers side of the case. I noticed that it looks like there is still and axle shaft in that side of the case with a c clip on the end..... do I need to remove this to get the carrier out. And no cheokeekid im doing this in yuba city. Thanks for the offer though.

Well, yah. That's why I told you about that "C" clip like 10 posts back. :D
Go re-read my post, you will need the info to answer some of the questions you haven't asked yet, like how to put it back together.

I read that but i didnt know if I had to remove the shift motor and the c-clip or just the shift motor. So what you are saying is that I need to remove the c-clip in the carrier and the shift motor in order to pull the axle shaft out to get the carrier out. Correct?

Yes, the "C" clip must be removed, then thrown in the trash. As I mentioned, it was deleted on later models. Besides, I dare you to get it in there after the locker has been installed ;)

Also remove the shift motor, it will make things easier as you need to pull the shaft towards the outside of the axle tube in order to clear the carrier. Do not loose the locking collar. Take a good look inside as you dissasemble.

When you get to the locker part, label each bearing cap, each bearing shim, and each bearing cup. They will need to go back on the side of the carrier they came from and are not interchangable.

The amount of tapping on the socket isnt that hard, plus its on the flat surface of it.
i see you've never had to get out a rust-welded unit bearing before.

my dodge needed the u-joint cut and ball joints removed so we could remove the outer knuckle with outer shaft and bearing in one piece, and beat the bearing out with a sledge hammer... I would hardly call it tapping.

I have used both the socket and new bolt approach. new bolt for beating, socket for tapping out neverseized bearings.

update... yes the info was very helpfull. Big thanks to zuki-ron for the patients. I finally got it installed late last night after hitting a few more snags with the hub/ knuckle. Thanks again for the tips.
