Welcome Darin. That green looks familiar beyond a government vehicle color.

Passed ya, someplace, a few times.

well i just bought this jeep a few weeks ago. it was once a forest service vehicle. and it has been sitting for a while but i got her and spent a few days to get her road/trail worthy and i love it. this thing does very well all locked up, cant wait to take her out next weekend if i get the axle and ball joints fixed by then. i actually got 3 quarts of the forest service green with her so i can get rid of the dp 40 dark green primer. the white a woodgrain waggy was my old wheeling rig but my boss talked me into selling it to him, and he has beat the hell out of her but she keeps on going.

I'd recognize that rig a mile away. I was around for the entire build-up some time ago.

Glad it's gone to someone who will use it instead of just sitting there. :) Man, that brings back a ton of memories. I'll see if I can dig up some old pics of it.

right on, i got a pretty good deal on it. who ever put it together didn't own wrenches. i pretty much tore te whole thing apart and put it back together in two days. it started making noises when i would press in the clutch, i pulled the tranny and every bolt was lose. the t-case was barely hanging on the bell housing was about an inch from the block all the front end nut's and bolts were finger tight. atleast i found out before i hurt something on her bad.

Same guy stripped out my brake caliper bolts on the side he was working on. ;) Not the greatest at detail work...

Here's some pics from back in the day. :)

Header and Flowmaster is all I know of. He had a stroker project that never was taken on...

It still have that loooong TJ shifter in it? :) That was his pleasant surprise when he replaced the tranny. It is an AX-15 in there and not the Peugeot, BTW. The rear leaf springs are about 2yrs old, RE 4.5". The rockers hold air and it should still have on-board air (never had AC, so he put an AC compressor in the proper position for OBA). He did a LOT of work to get those rockers in...modifying the doors, even.

the on board air is awsome. yeah it has the ax-15 and the long shifter wich was all loose too. the rear springs are still nice, and it has some 1.5" shackles in the rear too. the rockers are awsome, and the air is pretty powerfull, fill up a 35 that was all the way off the bead. the motor is strong as hell and feels like it has some kind of aftermarket cam, but it has some nasty main bearing noise but it doesn't seem like it's gonna blow anytime soon. i have a backup motor for it if it does decide to blow up. anyways i love this thing and i think it was well orth the 1800 i paid for it. the wheels and tires were 1500 alone and there like new, i have alot of reciepts for the parts that are on this rig that total way more than i paid for it. it seemed like the guy i bought it from was pretty sad to let her go.

Rob's changed a lot. Pretty sad. We used to pal around together a lot, well before there was even a thought of a Northwest Chapter. :)

Pics soon, I hope. I'll dig some out and scan them for ya.

Hi all! I've already posted my original (red) '88 XJ, but it has since been totalled  . It's been a few months, but I got another '88 XJ, only now it's blue :) .

Here's my old XJ (stock, just removed ugly gold pin-stripes)
