I am looking to get my first welder and a local guy has this for sale for $285, is this any good and what thickness can I expect this to weld?

Maybe this one? That's the only AC/DC 225 amp Lincoln I see.

If so, that's a great stick welder, it will do anything you need, as long as you actually know how to weld.

i have a lincoln k1297 which is a 220v AC/DC stick welder. i have used it to weld to many axles (mine and quite a few other peoples), bumpers and skid plates. for me it works well for everything but thin gage metal. overall, i am happy with it, though i will soon be looking for a dual voltage mig machine to add to the shop.
